PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. 6th ultimo, from the dwelling of SYLVIA ISABEL TAYLOR., 13 Vincent Street, a£ 1 note ; a cigarettebox of cream parchment, about 4 in. by 3 in., gold lettering on top ; a gold heart-shaped locket with photograph of man and child inside; set with seed pearls (one missing)-in front in shape of V, inside of which is a sapphire set in engraved star, double ring ' attached through which passes a : fairly heavy curb gold neck-chain about. 18. in. long with, small star diamante clasp; a gold engagement ring, set with five diamonds in crossover claw setting; a ladies’ gold wide flat diess ring of American make with gold bridge, set with a round diamond between two square or oblong sapphires; a ladies’ silver or white metal dress ring of modern American make, set with an oblong black onyx with white metal bridge over onyx which was originally set with brilliants, but most of them are missing; a ladies’ gold pendant, originally set with three aquamarines the lower stone of which is missing, other stones are round and slightly smaller than a threepenny piece, ring at top through which is a very fine gold neckchain about 18 in. long with plain oval links ; a heavy brass or gilt necklet in form of chain from which bang about twelve small chains ending in knobs with two large ornaments hanging from centre ; a ladies’ tan imitation leather handbag with brass military shoulder title on one side on which are the letters “ N.Z.E.” ; a ladies’ rolled-gold .or gold Swiss Roamer wristlet-watch of round shape ■ with gold-coloured dial, black Arabic numerals, each of which is inside a small white disk, seven jewel, “ 3116 ” ay be scratched on inside of back case, fitted with gold-dipped metal non-expanding bracelet; and a post-office savings-bank book, No. 598441, in name Sylvia Isabel Taylor, and issued at Chief Post-office, Auckland ; total value, £39. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. 2lst ultimo, from a cubicle at the tepid baths, the property t of MURIEL JEAN RAGGATT, 16 St. Martin’s Lane, Grafton, an 18 ct. gold wedding ring, engraved with diamond pattern alternated with two crosses, four small dots at intervals on top and bottom of band; and a 9 ct. gold shield-shaped locket, about lj in. by 1 in., engraved with flowers and leaves, small shield in centre, with “ M.J.R.” thereon, small dent in centre at top and on side, 9 ct. gold fine chain about 16 in. long with clip fastener attached; total value, £5. Identifiable.

Napier. During the night of the 13th May last, the premises of McCULLOCK, BUTLER, AND SPENCE, Tennyson Street, were broken into and the following stolen : Some cash-boxes and stamps (recovered); £3O 10s. 7d. in money; £4O 6s. lOd. in postal notes; a postal note for £37 4s. 3d. and one for £3B, both in favour of W. A. Krogh; a cheque for £3 in favour of C. Kendall; a cheque for £2 in favour of Gifford and Robertson; a cheque for £ls 3s. 4d. in favour of Shepherd and Co.; a cheque for £3 10s. 6d. in favour of Estate of Donald McKinnon; a cheque for £6 4s. 6d. in favour of A. G. Allaway; the following postoffice savings-bank books: St. Paul’s Centenary, No. 170450; St. Paul’s Church, No. 154403 East Coast Investment Trust, No. 160244; H. C. Lyall, No. 86104; C. D. Kennedy and Co., No. 171107; Estate of R. Restall, No. 47489; Estate of D. McKinnon, No. 161497; and St. Paul’s Church, No. 72246. Cheques and bank-books identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Alfred Melville Herts, ago eighteen, height about 5 ft. 9 in,, farm hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, slow speech, dull appearance. He is known to have left the town soon after this offence was committed.

Hastings. —2sth May last, from a room in the Albert Hotel, the property of ARTHUR HARRIS, manager, a ladies’ gold bracelet, about 1 in. wide, half surface engraved, “ M.C., 1927 ” on inside; a gentlemen’s gold octagonshaped wristlet watch, may be Unicom make, “ A.H.” on back, rolled-gold wrist- band ; a ladies’ silver birthday ring, set with a topaz surrounded by brilliants; a ladies’ silver band ring, set with a coloured flower in pointed shield about in. long, expanding band a pair of gentlemen’s tan crocodile leather shoes, size 8} ; two small bottles of scent; twelve handkerchiefs;. three pairs of gentlemen’s pale-green cashmere, socks; a large blue square scarf with white spots; and £7 128. in money; total value, £29 17s. Identifiable except money.

Wellington. the 29th ultimo, the office of JOHN WILLIAM PERKINS, and another, 30 Courtenay Place, was broken into and the following stolen: A Woodstock Standard typewriter, known as No. 5, 11} in. carriage; arid an immersion heater about 11 in. long ; total value, £l4 7s. fid. Typewriter identifiable.

Wellington. —26th August last, from a room in Barrett’s Hotel, Lambton Quay, the property of NANCY MURIEL GARDNER, a bank-book and marriage certificate (recovered); a black morocco leather handbag, envelope shape, about 10 in. by 6 in., money-purse attached; an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, large stone in centre surrounded by seven or nine diamonds in cluster, claw' platinum setting, size Q ; an 18 ct. gold ring, set with three Ciro diamonds in claw setting, half-hoop design, size Q; 17s. 6d. in money; a black and white mottled Eversharp pencil, Black and White whisky advertisement on it; and two pairs of Prestige sun-tan silk stockings; total value, £42. Rings and bag identifiable. The recovered property was found in Herbert Street- later the same day.

Wellington. the night of the 12th instant, the warehouse of DOMINION MOTORS, LTD., 195 Thorndon Quay, was broken into and the.following stolen : A 1939-40 model black Morris 8 sedan motor-car, gold-coloured line around . body, head-lamps set in mudguards, fawn . cloth seat-coverings, 450 xl7 Dunlop tires, chassis No. 53732, engine No. 54305 ; value, £305 ; a six-volt nine-plate Lucas battery, “ 5.10 n.” on one terminal strap; a small green two-gallon petrol-tin; and a small tin funnel; total value, £307 6s. 6d. Car and battery identifiable. Registrationplates were not attached when the car was stolen.

Wellington.—3oth August last, from a cloakroom in the Hotel Waterloo, the property of HARRY ERNEST WORSP, 146 Kamo Road, Whangarei, a gentlemen’s thick woollen double-breasted overcoat, grey with light-grey and red check, half lined with grey silk, ends of sleeves have been resewn, fit man about 6 ft. 2 in.; value, £B. Identifiable.

Christchurch.—27th July last, from the dwelling of MARGARET OLGA DOUGLAS, Flat 301, St. Elmo Courts, a light-coloured three-quarter length musquash fur coat with blue-fawn and gold-coloured floral lining, roll collar which is lined with brown silk and torn in centre at back; value, £35. Identifiable.
