PERSONS WANTED.
Auckland. —On or about the 10th June last, on warrant for publishing a subversive statement, Jack Thomas West, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 762. He is usually dressed in a brown suit, and a brown hat which he wears on the back of his head ; is said to be a showman and labourer. He is charged that “ on or about the 10th June, 1940, at Whenuapai did publish a subversive statement, to wit, ‘ When Hitler comes here I’ll be the first down at the wharf and I’ll put up my hand and say heil Hitler.’ ”
Auckland.— Harold James Thompson, wilful damage (see Police Gazette, 1940, page 419). He is not identical with a man of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, pages 408 and 576.
Hamilton.— ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for two months in default of paying £74 6s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Gwendoline Mary Bell, William dimming Bell, age thirty’ height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes, scar on left upper arm. Te Kuiti.— 7th August last, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Bernice Myrtle Hume, and three children, Robert Hume, alias Hughes, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar on right side of neck and on forehead, dot on left middle finger. National Park. — l3th August last, on warrant for obtaining credit for taxi-fare from Henry Pawson, taxi-driver, to the amount of £2O by fraudulently representing that he was about to receive a legacy, John Hartland Pierson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 395, and Photographs, 1939, page 36. He was employed at a sawmill at National Park when he committed the offence. There are other charges pending. He may be accompanied by Annie Isabel Chaplin, age thirty, height about 5 ft., pimply face, black hair, dark eyes ; fond of drink. He is in possession of a Chevrolet sedan motor-car, Registration No. 197,917.
Palmerston North. —l3th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for six weeks in default of paying £l2 9s. 6d. balance of fine and costs for infecting another person with venereal disease, Ronald Joseph Mitchell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 817. v
Otaki. — ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of maintenance orders for the support of his wife, Alice Carol Stewart, and three children, John Stewart, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and engine-driver, native of Australia, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, ring on right middle and ring fingers. Arrears to 3rd June last, £970. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 216, and Photographs, 1932, page 89.)
Petone. 2sth ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Doris Pearl Harris, 69 Richmond Street, John Turner Harris, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, good build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, birthmark on one forearm ; fond of horse-racing. Arrears to 18th May last, £6. (See Police Gazette, 1937, page 303, and 1939, page 427, where the age is incorrect.)
Petone.— lßth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of complying with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Valeric Norma Parkinson, 4 Ava Street, John Henry Parkinson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 221. Wellington. —l2th August last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £l2 11s. 6d. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Katherine Elizabeth McCabe, Alexander Stewart McCabe, age thirty, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, fair complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes, protruding ears, slouching gait, does not wear a hat. Greymouth. — ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Agnes Crimmens is the mother, Percy Henry Birchfield, alias “ Tup,” referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 535, and Photographs, page 76. Arrears to 16th ultimo, £42 4s. 2d.
Christchurch. 2nd August last, on two warrants of commitment to Paparua Prison for three days on each in default of paying £3 Bs. fines and costs for breaches of the Motor-vehicles Act, Bernard Bryan Jackson, age twentythree, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, light-brown hair.
