Kingsland. —l3th ultimo, from the dwelling of DAPHNE SHEILA DILLON, 19 Brewster Avenue, a ladies’ gold dress ring, set with five diamonds in straight setting; value, £3O. Identifiable.

Auckland. — sth or 6th April last, from the dwelling of NINA WOODHOUSE, 9 ltahiri Road, Mount Eden, a gold round locket, £ in. in diameter, set with a ruby and four turquoises in claw setting, four pieces of gold projecting from ruby, back of locket made of glass with container behind; and a 15 in. gold chain, £ in. links, gold push-in clasp with engraving on it, contained in black case about 3 in. by 2 in. by 5 in.; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. —9th April last, from the window of the shop of JAMES HOWARD WALTER DURAN, 418 Queen Street, an 18 ct. gold old-fashioned boat-shaped engagement ring with pierced head, set with two diamonds and a ruby ; a gentlemen’s 15 ct. gold old signet ring, set with an oval sardonyx or a cornelian; and an 18 ct. gold old ring, claw set with three sapphires and two diamonds, contained in black velvet pad, about 3 in. by 1£ in. by f in.; total value, £B. Identifiable.

Auckland. 26th April last, from a cloakroom in the factory of Alexander Harvey and Sons, Albert Street, the property of CLEATA GLOVER, 3 Bond Street, Grey Lynn, an 18 ct. gold ring, claw set with a cluster of seven diamonds of same size with three diamonds of different sizes in platinum setting on each side of cluster ; value £l2 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 18th and 20th March last, the dwelling of BEATRICE ELIZABETH KORKIS, 25 Westbourne Road, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold nugget brooch, nugget of mountain shape, about size of sixpenny piece; a pair of round gold Gipsy ear-rings with ear-hooks; an oval gold brooch, set with three flat pearls; a gold ring, set with a ruby in centre which is mounted on a gold cull-link and set crosswise; a pair of light-mauve amethyst ear-rings, set in silver with ear-hooks; a pair of dark-mauve amethyst ear-rings; a pair of Cambridge blue turquoise ear-rings, each set with two stones in gold;

a star brooch, set with brilliants with clip fastener; an imitation gold evening-dress spray with different coloured stones of exploding star-shell appearance; a pair of silvercoloured ear-rings, set with brilliants; a pair of ear-rings, set with brilliants in silver with pearl drop at end, and earhooks ; an oval light-mauve amethyst brooch, set with three amethysts in silver-coloured background, safety fastener; a brooch, set with a dark-mauve amethyst and number of small brilliants in gold setting; a pair of imitation black ebony car-rings in shape of bell with brilliants set in silver and have ear-hooks; a pair of jet-black ear-rings, set with a brilliant star ; a black ornament for evening wear of narrow leaf shape about 3 in. long, studded with brilliants with clip fastener; a black neck pendant with silver chain, set with a pearl; thirty pairs of assorted ear-rings of imitation jewellery; and an imitation leather box, about 11 in. by 9 in. by 31 in., with gold-coloured fastener on front, lined with white satin ; total value, £SO. Identifiable. The house and contents were badly damaged by fire between the dates mentioned above, and it is considered probable that the fire was caused by the person or persons who broke into the dwelling.

Wellington. —lßth or 19th April last, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Broadcasting Department) a Shure dynamic microphone, enclosed in dull chromium stream-lined case, table model, about 9 in. high with table base on swivel; value, £25. Identifiable. The microphone was stolen from either Trentham Military Camp or from 2ZB Studio.

Wellington. 6th ultimo, from a cloakroom in the Grand Hotel, the property of THOMAS ALEXANDER PRAINLANDER, 6 Riddiford Street, a gentlemen’s doublebreasted brown check tweed overcoat, Boulevard make, fully lined with brown silk, close fitting, vent in back, six dark-brown buttons, fit man 5 ft. 10 in.; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —lst ultimo, from a motor-car in Ballance Street, the property of PETER ANDERS JACOBSON, 306 Oriental Parade, a gentlemen’s double-breasted grey tweed overcoat with zig-zag stripes, fully lined with grey silk, branded “ Joseph May and Sons, London,” vent in back, six black buttons, fit man 6 ft.; value, £7. Identifiable.

Wellington.— 27th April last, from a room in Barretts Hotel, the property of FRANK ARCHIBALD ASHWORTH, care of Freeman R. Jackson Co., Wanganui, a heavy brown fibre suit-case, half straps, 36 in. by 24 in. by 10 in.; a black three-piece suit with fine stripes, Vance-Vivian make; a green dressing-gown of fine Merino wool, green facings; a pair of grey trousers, D.I.C. brand ; twelve pairs of socks; a grey silk shirt; a grey silk shirt with red stripes; two pairs of black shoes, size 7 ; a quantity of underwear; and a dark-grey Borsalino hat, size 6s-; total value, £33 9s. 6d. The offence may have been committed by John Patrick Hardy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 803, and Photographs, 1938, page 88, who was in Wellington on the day the offence was committed. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Blenheim. —GROVETOWN SCHOOL broken into (see Police Gazette, 1940, page 456) : Albert Bowen, alias John Jones, referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page 355, is to be interviewed regarding the offence. He was in the locality at the time and is suspected. Zuh/^O.

Sumner. —On the 15th March last, the dwelling of NORMAN JOHN LESTER FOX, 37 Estuary Road, Redcliffs, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold open-face wristlet watch, luminous dial, “ N.J.F.” on back, gold expanding wrist-band; and £2 in notes; total value, £7. Identifiable.
