Whangarei.— On or about the 21st June last, from a tennis pavilion at Pipiwai, the property of RODERICK DONALD NORMAN FINLAYSQN, a gallon tin of Texaco oil value, 9s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Richard Howard Miller, showman, whose motor-car (an ’’Overland, registration No. 90,318) in which was a man and a woman was seen near the pavilion referred .to. . Auckland. —23rd September last, from a motor-car in Wakefield Street, the property of COLIN IVAN FRENCH, a Crossley motor-car radio-set, model 157 A., serial No. 30365; value, £l3. Identifiable..
• Auckland. Between the Ist October last and' 16th ultimo, from an office at the Trans-Tasman hangar, the property of HAROLD EDWARDS, LTD., contractors, Wellington, two lenses to fit student level, glass is concave on one side and convex on other side, one is about If in. in diameter and has a tarnished brass rim about \ in. wide with thread on edge for screwing into level, and the other is about in. in diameter, about in. long, slides into level, and;is; made of untarnishable brass ; total value, £l6. Larger level identifiable.
Auckland. 3rd October last, from the dwelling of CLARENCE WILLIAM RUSSELL, 101 Sarsfield Street, Herne -Bay, a gentlemen’s gold wristlet watch (recovered); a 9 ct. gold fountain-pen, “ Simpson ” engraved on it; a gold-filled Sheaf Fer propelling pencil, pocket clip attached; a pocket knife, tortoise-shell handle, two blades and small pair of scissors which fold like blade; and £2 in money; total value, £l9. Identifiable except money. At 4.30 a.m. some person was seen on his property. The watch was recovered from a pawnbroker to whom it had been pledged on the 7th October last by a man who gave the name William T. Watson, age about thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion ; well dressed in a brown suit and brown felt hat; well spoken.
Auckland. During the night of 2nd October last, the warehouse of CADBURY, FRY, HUDSON, LTD., 151 Beach Road, was broken and the following stolen: A brown leather money-bag, half-moon shape, about 9 in. long and 7 in. deep, firm’s name written inside in indelible pencil; £34 3s. 6d. in money; a cheque for 18s. Id., No. 45177, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Papakura, in favour of complainant firm, signed “I. A. Patton,” and dated 2/10/39; a black self-filling Onoto fountain-pen; and a cheap pocket watch; total value, £36 2s. 6d. Portion identifiable.
Auckland. 23rd October last, from outside the Mount Pleasant Hospital, Princes Street, the property of KATHLEEN LILIAN BULL, Puketutu Island, Mangere, a *1937 De Luxe model five-seater Chevrolet sedan, motor-car, painted green, dent in right rear mudguard, brown upholstery, electric clock on left side of dashboard, engine No. R. 5542451, chassis No. X.H.F.A. 75092, registration No. 107,565; value, £3OO. Auckland. 26th October last, from the office of ILLUSTRATIONS LTD., 106 Albert Street, a cash-box containing £2O 12s. Bd. in money and ss. 7/d. in stamps. Suspicion is attached to Roderick John Rennie, age fourteen years and a half, heighfr/ifft., message-boy, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, large blue-grey eyes; dressed in navy-blue shorts, clerical grey coat, and white shirt (no hat). He was employed by complainant firm, and he disappeared before the offence was discovered. The cash-box containing the stamps and Is. 3d. cash was subsequently recovered from an unused room. Auckland. — 6th . ultimo, the property of ROBERT CHARLES CONDELL, farmer, Tihi Road, Karalta/" a £5 note. ” Suspicion is attached to Albert Arthur Miners, referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page 96, and Photographs, 1936, page 38. He stutters slightly and is mentally weak ; dressed in a navy-blue suit; untidy appearance. He was employed by complainant but left his employment on the 6th ultimo, after which it was discovered that the money had been stolen from complainant’s wallet, .it. -ft&cajjLd - /^f/%J fa Mount Eden.— Between the 3rd and Bth October last, from the dwelling of LILLIAN JOSEPHINE PERRY, 9 Edenside Flats, Mount Eden Road, a ladies’ octagonshaped gold Swiss wristlet watch with gold dial; and a gentlemen’s oblong-shaped nickel Swiss wristlet watch, Mavoris make, luminous hands and numerals; total value, £9 2s. 6d. Identifiable.
Hamilton. Between the 23rd and 28th October last, from the dwelling of , CONSTANCE JEAN CAMERON, 4 Union Street, an 18 ct. gold ring, set with five diamonds in carved half-hoop setting, similar to illustration No. 74, in Police Gazette, 1911, page 6 ; value, £25. Identifiable.
Wellington. —Between the sth and 12th ultimo, from the City Temple, Lome Street, the property of HAROLD OSCAR KUCHEN, 38 Eden Street, Island Bay, a chromiumplated banjo-mandolin, 12 in. drum with “Major” stamped on it, large scratches on back; value, £l2 12s. Identifiable.
Wellington. llth ultimo, from a cloak-room in the Hotel Waterloo, the property of JOHN STIPEK, 24 Glasgow Street, a gentlemen’s double-breasted overcoat of dark-grey tweed with diagonal stripes, about size 5, “ Joseph May and Sons, London and Leeds on label on right inside pocket; a pair of gentlemen’s pigskin gloves; a maroon-coloured Kynoch cashmere and wool scarf ; and a white linen handkerchief ; total value, £9 11s. 6d. Coat and gloves identifiable.
Wellington. Street, the property of ERIC FRANCIS DESMOND PAULL. 20 Edge Hill Street, a Perfex camera, black with chromium fittings, about 8 in. by 2|- in. by 3 in., dial on back marked with rows of figures, built-in synchroflash ; value, £l6 10s. Identifiable.
