Warkwortii. 4th instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Frank Robertshaw, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., deep-sea diver and hotel porter, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, Union Jack, “ Mother,” and clasped hands on left forearm, dancing girl, Indian’s head, and sailor on right forearm. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer, and has also failed to make restitution, and his arrest is desired. (See Police Gazette, 1936, page 723.)

Auckland. 2sth May last, for theft of £3 10s. in money, the property of Edward Joseph Leigh, station-manager, Bucklands, South Head, Helensville, William Sefton, alias “ King ” Sefton, age about fifty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., cowman-gardener, good build, dark complexion, lines on face, acid stains on face, neck, and hands, left leg shorter than right, and walks with a limp, dressed in a dark suit, brown overcoat, and felt hat; fond of drink. Accused who was employed'by complainant was going to Auckland on the 25th May last for holidays, and was to return to his work on the 31st May. Before leaving complainant gave him £3 10s. to purchase fowls in Auckland, but he has not been heard of since. When located he is to be interviewed regarding this and another similar complaint. No warrant.

At the Supreme Court at Auckland on the 6th August, 1937, he was released on probation on charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and he has failed to comply with the conditions.

Taumarunui. — ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Wanganui Prison for two months and one month in default of paying £3B Is. fines and costs for selling liquor in a proclaimed area, and falsely stating to police officer that an offence had been committed, Thomas Leonard Fitzsimmons, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 452. The Magistrate who issued the warrants of commitment suggested that the police might possibly allow Fitzsimmons reasonable time to pay, even if the payment was by instalments, but thesemust be inAde atAegular intervals.

Hastings. —l9th instant, on warrant to apprehend for failing to maintain his wife, Ivy Isabel Thomason, and three children, Karamu Settlement, Percy Thomason, age fortyone, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and orchard hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair going bald, light-blue eyes, large nose, suffers from spinal trouble and he is stooped, stutters slightly when agitated ; neatly dressed. He has been a voluntary patient in Porirua Mental Hospital.

Waiptjkuratt. —26th July last, for false pretences, W. Wallace, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion dressed in a light suit. Accused obtained £1 16s. from Leslie Gooday, fruiterer, Ruataniwha Street, Waipukurau, by falsely representing that he was in business at Pukekohe, and would supply the cabbages and cauliflowers which complainant paid for. He. may be identical with a man of the same name referred to in Poliop Gazette, 1939, page 690. No warrant. WVO&Od'

Palmerston North. Bth instant, on warrant for attempted theft of a sports coat and a pair of sports trousers, value £4 2s. 6d., the property of C. M. Ross and Co., drapers, The Square, John Robert McKay, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 115. He is dressed in grey sports coat and trousers, grey felt hat, and light-coloured horn-rimmed glasses. Accused, who gave his name and address as Duncan Riddiford, Bunnythorpe, telephoned to an assistant, Donald Edward John Hoare, in the employ of the above firm, and asked that a sports coat and trousers be sent to the fruit shop next to the Cosy Theatre as he (accused) could not get to Palmerston North before the shops closed. The articles were sent and they were collected by McKay. He is also to be interviewed regarding other similar offences. k//0j34

Carterton. l6th instant, that he may be located and interviewed, Noel Dick, age twenty-six, height 6 ft., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes ; smart appearance. On or about the 14th January last he collected at the Hamilton Post-office a letter from E. Ware and Son, Hastings, addressed to “ N. Dick,” containing a cheque for £4. The letter and cheque were the property of Norman George Dick, Hastings. The cheque was cashed at the Bank of New South Wales, Karangahape Road, Auckland. Noel Dick is at present in Australia, but if he returns to this Dominion he is to be interviewed.

Wellington. 7th instant, on warrant for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Colin Algernon Warn®, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, pages 633 and 650. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer.

Blenheim. l7th instant, for false pretences—(l) Jack Williams (name probably fictitious). He may be identical with Alexander Wallace Copley, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 261, and Photographs, 1926, page 26. (2) William Albert Gaines, alias Albert Gains, referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page 470. They are in possession of a fawn Ford V 8 motor-car, registration No. 60,406, and they may be selling carpets or similar goods. The accused, Williams, obtained two cheques£24 and —from Edward Tomlinson, licensee, Renwick Arms Hotel, by falsely stating that he could get twenty cases of Dewars and Black and White whisky from bond, and would let complainant have it at cost. The cheques were cashed at the Blenheim branch of the Bank of Australia by the accused Gaines. As a token of good faith Williams left with Tomlinson three floor-rugs. When located the file is to be obtained from the Inspector of Police, Nelson, before they are interviewed. No warrant. U\103%.
