PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. Between the 23rd and 27th April last, from the dwelling of EDITH MAUD HARMAN, 101 Park Road, Grafton, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with three square cut diamonds in a row in platinum box setting, centre diamond slightly larger than other two; value, £2B. Identifiable.

Auckland. 7th or Bth May last, from the dwelling of GRACE STEVENS, 11 Rota Street, Parnell, an 18 ct. gold ring of marquise design, set with a large diamond in centre and smaller diamonds on each side of it in gold diamondshaped setting ; and an old 18 ct. gold ring, set alternately with three diamonds and two emeralds in gold setting : total value, £24. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Pearl Ann Davidson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 282. She is employed by complainant and she has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland.— or 25th May last, from a room at the Howick Hotel, the property of JOYCE GLAGOSKI, housemaid, a ladies’ 15 ct. gold wristlet-watch, “ J.G.” scratched on inside case, Arabic numerals, purchased from Farmers’ Trading Co., leather wrist-strap attached; value, £5 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Cara Louise Sharp, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in., married, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, slovenly appearance; fond of drink. She stayed at the hotel during the night of 24th May last, but left hurriedly early next morning. Auckland. 4th April last, from a cupboard at 7 Apihai Street, Orakei, the property of ALISON RUSSELL, a gold chain and locket with heart in centre and pearl in centre of heart : value, £1 ss. Identifiable.

Between May, 1938, and May, 1939, from a garage in Hohipere Street, the property of WINSTONE, LTD., eight Eversure hydraulic lifting-jacks, three-ton lift, number on each may be one of the following : 256, 258, 259, 262, 263, 264, 265, or 269 ; four green Hein Werner hydraulic lifting- two-ton lift, single ram and screw type, number on each may be one of the following: 281, 285, 287, or 288 ; three Sky-high hydraulic lifting-jacks, four-ton lift, numbers may be one of the following : 231, 233, or 234; three Sky-high hydraulic lifting- jacks, double ram, five-ton lift, number may be one of the following : 236, 245, or 251. Auckland. 3lst May last, from clothing in the storeroom of Weeks Ltd., the property of WILLIAM JOSEPH MARSHALL, Onewa Road, Northcote, a gentlemen’s gold open-face pocket- “ Bay State ” on dial, scroll on back; a gold albert about 14 in. long, with English spade guinea, dated 1774, attached : total value, £ll 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —6th ultimo, from a motor-car in Queen Street, the property of DAVID ANDERSON, 7 Hohipere Street, a gentlemen’s black leather double-breasted overcoat, 1 full belt, brown cotton lining, Raglan sleeves, casein buttons, three of which are missing from front, branded “ Leaning and Co.” under collar inside: value, £6. Onehunga. 2sth or 26th May last,, from the dwelling of JAMES HANDLIN, 21 Victoria Street, an oak chiming mantel clock, about 10in. long and Sin. . high, . German movement with a crown on it on which is written “ Coronet,”Roman numerals, below dial is a chromium-plated bar about 21 in. by 4 in. suitable for inscription; value, £4 19s. Identification doubtful.

Hamilton. —During the night of 24th May last, the Whatawhata Post-office, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department) was broken into, the safe opened by means of explosives, and the following stolen: stamps of various denominations, value £7 Bs., 4d.; and £6 ss. 6|d. cash. Not identifiable.

Gisborne. —10th ultimo, from a room in the Albion Hotel, the property of WILLIAM PERCY LEGGETT, a gentlemen’s silver hunting keyless Lancashire watch, Swiss movement, Roman numerals, “ P.L.” on front case, may have “ A ” scratched in front of number ; and a silver double watch-chain, straight links about f in. long joined with small twisted links : total value, £lO Bs. Identifiable.

Inglewood. Between the 25th and 27th ultimo, the dwelling of ANNIE PETERSEN, Mountain Road, Waiongona, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ 9 ct. gold wristlet-watch, No. 1514 or 500874, Arabic numerals, “ A Petersen, Mountain Road, Waiongona ” scratched on inside back case, gold expanding wrist-band attached; value, £3. Identifiable.

Hawera. —10th ultimo, from a dressing-shed on the A.M.P. Showgrounds, the property of DONALD PAUL McNEIL, 273 High Street, a gentlemen’s hexagon-shaped chromiumplated open-face Bren Rival wristlet-watch, white dial with luminous green hands and Arabic numerals,. “ Made in Germany ” on dial, small dent in back case, chromiumplated expanding wrist-band attached; value, £2. Identifiable.
