McKenzie, Ltd., Bridge Street, and theft of £1 Bs. lid. from a desk in the office, Noel Wilson, age nineteen, (looks younger), height 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, thin build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, bushy eyebrows ; dressed in light-grey trousers, brown sports coat, black shoes (no hat), sometimes wears a light-coloured pullover with roll collar; may follow the occupation of steward. Wilson, who stayed at the Metropolitan Private Hotel for about ten days prior to the commission of the offence, became acquainted with Harry Laurie, one of the staff of the complainant firm, and about three days previously to the date of the offence he called to see Laurie at the back of the premises. On the morning after the offence he again met Laurie, who informed him of the occurrence. He asked how entrance was gained, and when informed that three louvres had been removed from the lavatory window, he replied, “ but there is a bar across the window on the inside.” It is considered that he could not be aware of the position of the bar without haying entered the premises by the lavatory window.
