PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. 3oth or 31th July last, from the dwelling of ENID ABRAHAM, 56 Normans Hill, Onehunga, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold ring, set with oblong black onyx in box setting, band in. wide, onyx \ in. long; value, £4 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Frank Drew, alias “Mick” Drew, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Zealand, thin build, fair complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes, sharp nose; dressed in a dark suit with stripes, grey lumber jacket with zipp fastener, and green hat; quiet manner. On the night of 30th July last he attended a party at complainant’s house where he stayed all night, ijtirmg the ring. Auckland. 2nd July last, from a room in the Peoples Palace, Upper Queen Street, the property of CHARLES ROBERT REGINALD HOLDT, £ll 3s. in money, made up of one £5 note, six £1 notes, and 3s. in silver and coppers. Suspicion is attached to Arthur Thomas Morrison Grove, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 644, and Photographs, 1932, page 32. He occupied a room near that of complainant’s, and he was about the premises on the day the offence was committed. Identifiable. It was stolen from the bottle store of the Edinburgh Castle Hotel.

Auckland. During the night of 18th ultimo, the store of GEORGE HERBERT EDWARDS, Glen Afton, was broken into and about £4 10s. in money stolen. Suspicion is attached to Douglas Wright, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 352, and Photographs, 1933, page 84. He was in the district about the time the offence was committed, and he has been interviewed by the Hamilton police, but no evidence resulted. He is also suspected of having broken and entered the-railway-station at Glen Afton, and having attempted to open the safe by means of explosives. He has also been interviewed in regard to this offence, but no evidence resulted.

Pukekohe. —On the 7th ultimo, the dwelling of LILLIAN WOOLSEY, Patumahoe, was broken into and the following the property of JAMES SERVICE, stolen: £ls in money. Suspicion is attached to Bruce Byfield, alias Arthur Wilson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 631, and Photographs, page 76. He had previously been employed on complainant’s farm and may have returned during the latter’s absence and committed the offence. He is also suspected of having about the same time broken into the hut of NORMAN GORDON, care of J.
