Richardson (name probably fictitious), age about forty, heigh* about 5 ft. 7 in., strong build, fresh complexion ; dressed in a light suit and light felt hat; well spoken ; smart appearance. Accused obtained £8 15s. cash from James Lloyd Mack, 344 Queen Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, which he tendered in payment for a pair of trousers for which he was measured. No warrant.

Thompson (name probably fictitious), age about twentyseven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, light-blue shifty eyes ; dressed in a light-grey double-breasted sports suit, size 5, and light-coloured felt hat. Accused obtained a light-grey double-breasted suit/ size 5, a pair of black shoes, and other articles of clothing; value, £5 Is., and a cheque for £l4 13s. 10d., from Alfred Heber Caudwell, men’s outfitter, Tutanekai Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £l9 14s. lOd. on the Bank of Australasia, Rotorua, No. 1344, payable to F. Thompson and signed A. B. Murrell. This cheque was from the cheque-book of Alexander Murray Isdale, and when it was lost or stolen it contained seven cheque forms — 1344 to 1350, three of which have been issued in Rotorua by a man of the description given. The accused may be identical with Ulric Ralph Catton, referred to in Police Gazette, 1924, page "552, who" was on Sunday, 22nd ultimo, in the room occupied by the owner of the missing cheque-book. Another suspect is George James Cullen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 77, and Photographs, 1928, page 38.
