Queen Street Whare (Auckland).2sth August last, from a room in the Waverley Hotel, the property of VERB STAUNTON SMYTH, 40 Winchester Street, Christchurch, a gentlemen’s double-breasted dark grey-brown tweed overcoat with light stripes, Ulster pattern, fit man 5 ft. 10 in., two side pockets and a breast pocket on outside; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— August last, from a room in the W ley Hotel, the property of ERNEST PAGE, 10 Morrison Street, Dunedin, a gentlemen’s singlebreasted unlined grey overcoat, herringbone material, two pockets on outside, fit man 5 ft. 8 in., “ Minster ” inside neck ; and a nickel-plated two-cell electric torch, Camel make : total value, £5 3s. Coat only identifiable.

Auckland. —29th August last, from an office in Alston Chambers, 63 Queen Street, the property of ROBERT RAYMOND RYAN, a four-valve table model Minuette radio-set, which is for use in direct current area only, “ Minuette ”on plate under dial; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Auckland. During the nights of 7th and 15th ultimo, the shop of THOMAS ALFRED WARD, 7 St. Kelvin’s Arcade, Newton, was broken into and a quantity of cigarettes and tobacco of various brands, and £6 in small silver and coppers stolen : total value, about £l3 12s. Not identifiable. On the first occasion a set of keys for the shop may have been stolen from the till, and possibly they were used to gain admittance on the second occasion.

Auckland. 2nd instant, the property of LAURA FRANCES MARTIN, Waimana Avenue, Northcote, a black leather envelope-shaped handbag, plaited handle, containing about £l4 in money, made up of two £5 notes, two £1 notes, a 10s. note, and some silver; an Auckland Savings-bank Book, No. 24425 ; and a Devonport Ferry annual ticket, No. 40284, for 1936 (the two latter have complainant’s name in them). Identifiable except money. Complainant lost the purse in Milne and Choyce’s shop.

Auckland. — loth August last, from the lift in the Imperial Buildings, Queen Street, the property of CYRIL MALCOLM TAYLOR, caretaker, a gentlemen’s double-breasted darkbrown leather overcoat with grey tartan-striped lining, small cut on left sleeve ; value, £6. Identifiable. /3//0/3 7 — — Auckland.—During the night of 17th ultimo, from the hall in the Hotel Arundel, the property of the proprietor, WILLIAM HAROLD SLATER, a gentlemen’s small doublebreasted dark-grey overcoat, 34 in. chest, black silk lining, two outside pockets, one inside pocket, “ Aquascutum ” on back of collar and in one pocket; an enamel cigarette-case; a pair of gentlemen’s kid gloves; and a brown leather suitcase, 22 in. by 9 in., containing a grey suit with small checks ; a grey woollen dressing-gown with blue girdle; ten pairs of socks; a pair of brown shoes ; twelve Pyramid handkerchiefs ; a set of blue-striped flannel pyjamas; two combination sets of underwear; two pairs of braces; three metal folding coat-hangers; six Tootal anti-crease ties; a blue muffler; a white muffler; eight blue poplin shirts; and six white collars: total value, about £36. Portion identifiable. The suit-case and contents are the property of H. B. R. MEYER.

Matamata.—Between the 10th and 19th August last, the dwelling of GORDON VERNEY GOW, Walton, was broken into and the following stolen: A Popular Pressman camera, No. 2071 ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Hamilton.- — 11th ultimo, from a motor-car at Raglan, the property of EDWARD JAMES WATKINS, 24 Cook Street, Hamilton East, an Auckland Automobile Association badge, No. 9418; and a motor registration-plate, No. 95 V 563: total value, 12s.

Cambridge.On or about the 9th February last, from the dwelling of FONG BING KUI, Empire Street, £24 10s. in sovereigns and half-sovereigns; £5 in small change; and naturalization papers. The offence may have been committed by Petrina Louise Petersen (referred to in Police Gazette, 1930, page 526, and Photographs, 1925, page 46), who is living with complainant. She has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Rotorua. — instant, from a caravan at Oldham’s Parking Ground, Ohinemutu, the property of ISABELLA CATHERINE PATON, 11a Pearce Road, Milford, Auckland, a green leather purse, about 9 in. by 6 in., two compartments, hinge on one side broken, containing a motor-driver’s license with complainant’s name on it, issued by the Takapuna Borough Council; six £1 Reserve Bank of New Zealand notes ; a Union Bank of Australia letter of credit, for £SO, No. 2021, which expires on the 31st March, 1937, issued at Auckland, portion has been drawn, leaving a credit of £2B ; a Union Bank of Australia, Auckland, cheque-book, containing forms Nos. 35418 to 35430; and a silver Sheaffer pencil, which has been broken and cut down to about 3 in., small chain attached : total value, £35. Identifiable except money.

Wellington.- —lst instant, the property of LUDWIG LOUIS CHRISTOPHERSON, cook, Anglo-Norse whaling ship, a dark-brown leather wallet, folding pattern, containing six £1 Reserve Bank of New Zealand notes; some photographs ; and sundry papers: total value, £6 10s. Photographs only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Frederick Murray, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 249, and Photographs, 1930, page 57. While complainant was paying a taxi-driver in Taranaki Street, the suspect, who was also present, was seen to pick something from Christoperson’s feet and walk away. Complainant then missed his wallet. The suspect is to be interviewed regarding the matter. Christchurch. —llth ultimo, from a motor-car in Hereford Street, the property of JONES AND SONS, 278 High Street, a six-valve dual wave Rolax radio, No. B. 14514 on sticker, yellow dial with imprint of ship and aeroplane on it; value, £23 10s. Identifiable by number only.

Christchurch. —Oh the 10th instant, the dwelling of SAMUEL MATHEW WOODS, 21 Forth Street, Bingsland, was broken into and the following stolen : About £475 in money, made up of £225 in Reserve Bank of New Zealand £5, £l, and 10s. notes, about £l5O in trading bank notes, and about £IOO in silver.
