PROPERTY STOLEN.

Rawene.- —Between the 24th September, 1934, and 2nd June last, from a station at Waima, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT ■ (Native Department), forty-nine steers, age about two years and a half, mainly Hereford and Shorthorn breeds. They may be marked as follow's : Piece out of bottom of right ear near tip, and a piece out of bottom of left ear at tip, or a piece out of bottom of each ear near tips, or a piece out of bottom of right ear in centre, or a piece out of bottom of right ear near tip ; and seventy-seven wethers, seventy-one ewes, and one ram—they may be ear-marked as follows : A V-shaped piece out of tip of right ear, and a slit in tip of left ear, or a slit in tip of right ear, and a V-shaped piece out of tip of left ear, or a piece out of top of right ear in centre, and a piece out of bottom of right ear near tip, and a piece out of bottom of left ear near tip, or a piece out of bottom of left ear in centre, or a piece out of bottom of right ear in centre : total value, about £412. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. — 23rd June last, from the Higher Thought Temple, the property of WILLIAM GEORGE ALGI DOBSON, 89 Wellesley Street, a gentlemen’s roan leather double-breasted Raglan overcoat, belt and side pockets, fleecy lining, “ Roan ” on tag under lining at bottom, fit man about 5 ft. 8 in.; and a pair of spectacles in case, one glass cracked : total value, £3 17s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 9th April and 7th May last, the dwelling of ELIZABETH MILLS, 6 Winchester Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A bible (recovered); a crystal glass mirror with handle and silver back; a brown wooden sewing-box, about 9 in. by 6 in. by 4 in., inlaid with pieces of pearl; two crystal wireless-sets in rimu boxes, 8 in. by 6 in. by 4 in.; a pair of ear-phones with black vulcanite ear-pieces ; a pair of ear-phones with silver-plated earpieces : and a gentlemen’s large old-fashioned open-face nickel pocket watch, Arabic numerals : total value, £5 ss. Identifiable. Manuel Stewart, alias Manuera Taka Pene, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 424, and Photographs, 1932, page 35, was convicted of breaking into the dwelling and stealing the bible, but he denied stealing the remainder of the property.

Auckland. On the 15th May last, the dwelling of Henry Ritchie Urquhart, Exmouth Street, Northcote, was broken into and the following, the property of CICELY BRADLEY, stolen: A ladies’ gold 15-jewel Rolex wristlet-watch, No. 1074229; value, £lO. Identifiable. Manuel Stewart, alias Manuera Taka Pene, referred to in preceding paragraph, was convicted of this offence, but the watch has not been recovered.

Auckland. -On the 17th May last, the dwelling of ARTHUR ERNEST PEARSON, Great South Road, Penrose, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s gold square Swiss wristlet-watch, round luminous dial, Arabic numerals, “ A.E.P.” “ D.E.E.P.,” and “ Jet’aime 14/12/29 ” on back; value, £5. Identifiable. Manuel Stewart, alias Manuera Taka Pene, referred to in preceding paragraph, has been convicted of this offence, but the watch has not been recovered.

Auckland.-— During the night of 15th May last, from the Waverley Hotel, the property of ALBERTA ELIZABETH JAMIESON, Roberts Street, Tauranga, a narrow gold band engagement ring, with raised square on top in which is set a large diamond with three smaller diamonds on each side of it in straight setting, “ Pascoe ” on inside ; and a narrow gold wedding ring, with chased design all round it (both rings are very small) : total value, £25. Identifiable.

Auckland. —lsth June last, from his clothing on ' the King’s Wharf, the property of HENRY JOSEPH BRADY, 27 College Hill, a gentlemen’s gold ring which has been enlarged, and the join-mark can be seen beneath. the initials “J. 8.” ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. the 9th or 10th ultimo, from the dwelling of NORAH ST. CLAIR LADKIN, 67a Grafton Road, an 18 ct. gold diamond cluster engagement ring, set with large diamond in centre, surrounded by six" smaller diamonds in hexagon-shaped platinum setting; value, £l2. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Ernest .Albert Edward Tier, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 81- in., electrician, native of New Zealand, thin build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, large nose and ears, scar on right hip ; shabbily dressed in brown coat, light-grey flannel trousers, black shoes (no hat). He was staying in complainant’s house, and disappeared about the time the offence was committed. When located he is to be interviewed. Suspicion is attached to William J. Williamson, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, light- brown hair, blue eyes, slight blue mark in centre of forehead ; dressed in a grey shabby suit and grey felt hat; fond of drink. He is drawing a Royal Irish Constabulary pension. The complainant and the suspect were employed on the farm of R. Reeves, Waitoa, but Williamson was paid off on the 15th April last, and it is thought that he returned^

Wellington. —Between end of April last and Ist June, from the workshop of WILLIAM MARTIN GRANT, Commercial Travellers Building, Customhouse Quay, a ladies’ 18 ct. white gold oblong Eterna wristlet-watch of goldenwhite colour, No. 2546630, black ribbon attached ; value, £lO.

Timaru. —4th ultimo, from a motor-car in LeCren Terrace, the property of NEIL AYLMER RATTRAY, Waimate, a silver trophy cup (recovered); a gentlemen’s light-grey double-breasted tweed overcoat, “ Hobson Bros., Cork St. West, London” and complainant’s name on label inside pocket ; and a Mosgiel rug, brown on one side, light-brown on other side : total value, £29. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Young Man (name unknown), small build. At about 7.30 p.m. on the 4th ultimo, he was seen riding a bicycle in LeCren Terrace, and the cup was picked up after having been apparently dropped by him.

Invercargill. Between the 25th and 27th ultimo, the premises of R. S. BLACK AND CO., rabbit-skin dealers, Clyde Street, were broken into and the following stolen : About six hundred well-dried mixed rabbit-skins, the rabbits had been poisoned, trapped, and killed by dogs, ferrets : total value, £35. About 1.30 a.m. on the 27th ultimo, a |-ton motor-lorry was seen outside the building, and it is believed that the lorry was used in the commission of the offence.

Invercargill. —Between the Ist and 4th June last, from the dwelling of Mrs. Rout, 143 Dalrymple Road, the property of ADA JENNINGS, Awarua Plains, a ladies’ rolled-gold wristlet-watch, Roman numerals, “ A.J.” on back of case, rolled-gold expanding bracelet attached ; value, £5. Identifiable.
