PERSONS WANTED.

Newton. 29th ultimo, that he maybe compelled to pay to the Railways Department £1 10s. 6d., being his fare from Wanganui to Auckland, Jack Storr, age twenty, height 5 ft. 3 in., strong build, pale complexion, wavy fair hair, full face; dressed in a brown or navy-blue suit and brown shoes (no hat). He is interested in boxing and wrestling, and frequents gymnasiums. On the 20th and 21st April last he travelled by train from Wanganui to Auckland without paying his fare.

Auckland. —20th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Kathleen Mary Walker, and child, 575 a Awa Street, Otahuhu, James Hunter Walker, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 2 in., infirmary attendant, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, brown eyes; dressed in a dark-brown suit, hat, and shoes, and navy-blue overcoat; swings one leg when walking. Auckland. —Percy Fraser Hodgson, default of fines and costs, left Wellington for Australia on the 30th June last, but he intends to return to this Dominion within a year. (See Police Gazette, 1936, page 471.)

Auckland. lsth June last, for assault and robbery, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., thin build ; dressed in light-coloured overcoat and dark soft hat. About 5.50 p.m. in Remuera Road an unknown man assaulted Sybil Mary Rhodes, and stole her handbag and contents: total value, £5 Is. 6d. The bag subsequently was found in a yard in Remuera Road, and the contents, with the exception of three £1 notes, were found in Mount Hobson Domain. No warrant.

Auckland. —29th April last, for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), valued at £7 155., the property of Harry Jack Ellison, 44 Sackville Street, Grey Lynn, Gordon James Garter (name probably fictitious), age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, thin features, high cheekbones, sunken cheeks ; poorly dressed in gabardine overcoat, light-coloured sports trousers (no hat); abrupt manner. The bicycle was stolen from Customs Street, and it was recovered from a shop in 146 Queen Street where it had been sold by the suspect. No warrant.

Auckland. 2Bth ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Edith Cecilia Hoare, and child, 4th Avenue, Kingsland, Harry Archer Hoare, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., carpenter, native of England, strong build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, hazel eyes; dressed in a navy-blue suit and overcoat. He is in possession of a Chevrolet motorcar.

Auckland. 3oth May last, for theft of an overcoat (recovered), value, £1 10s., the property of Edward Leslie Brodie, Wiri, Robert Jackson (name probably fictitious), age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., driver, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit (no hat). The overcoat was stolen from a motor-car in Eanshawe Street, and pawned for Bs. No warrant.

Auckland. —lsth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a length of cable, value, 11s., the property of the Auckland Electricpower Board, James Wilson Smith, alias William James Smith, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 154, and Photographs, 1929, page 43. Calver John Sturch has admitted that he and Smith stole the cable from the Power Board’s yard in King’s Street, Wt,!..

Papatoetoe.— -23rd ultimo, for indecently exposing himself to Dorothy May Windust and other school - children, Man (name unknown), age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 9 in., thin build, dark complexion and hair, dark or brown eyes, protruding mouth; dressed in a dark coat, waistcoat, and trousers, leather belt, long dark peaked cap, bicycle clips on trousers; dirty appearance; soft speech. The accused overtook the children, who were returning from school along a secluded footpath, and indecently exposed himself to them. No warrant.

Hamilton. 24th ultimo, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Leo Gordon Trembath, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 259. His arrest is desired. /teL-2s/C)awT&J&d/2Z//2j/$

Napier. Between 10 p.m. and 11.50 p.m., on the 19th ultimo, some person or persons broke and entered the Port Ahuriri Post-office with intent to commit a crime. An attempt had been made with gelignite and blue fuse to open the safe. The offender left a boot-mark, size 9or 10, on the linoleum in front of the safe. The design of the imprint is identical with a rubber Sportex sole made by the Dominion Rubber Co., and will be numbered 400. It is a new product, and it is considered that very few of these soles will be on the market as yet. Waipawa and Waipukurau. —Norman Ernest Ryan, alias Norman Leslie Ryan, theft, &c., has returned to New Zealand, and is known by the names Norman Ryan and Carl C. Thunelius. Waverley. — Harry Dyer, default of fine and costs (see Police Gazette, 1936, page 472) : His description is as follows : Age about twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., showman, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, blue-grey eyes; usually dressed in a brown suit, brown felt hat, brown shoes, and grey overcoat. He is said to be employed by a showman named Bishop, who operates what is known as a “ Perris Wheel,” and he drives Bishop’s large five-ton flat-top truck.

Palmerston North. 2nd instant, for escaping from the yard at Palmerston North Police-station while on remand on a charge of theft, William Joseph Gee, alias Bain, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 384, and Photographs, 1933, page 86. He was dressed in fawny-brown trousers, with sleeveless pullover of similar colour, blue and white shirt, double-breasted navy-blue coat, and black shoes (no hat or socks )

Wellington. —l2th ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Ruahine,” Bertram Charles Sumpton, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 10 in., ship’s fireman, fair hair. MaZ. executed/ ZO///3 / 7.
