Between the 16th and 17th May last, from 24 Edinburgh Street, the property of ETHEL ELIZABETH TORRENCE, a black morocco leather handbag, size 5 in. by 7 in., with “T” on outside; a ladies’ small gold wristletwatch with expanding wristlet; a silver-backed clothesbrush ; a powder compact; and £1 in money : total value, £7 11s. 6d. Identifiable except money.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —6th July .last, from a cubicle at the Tepid Baths, the property of WILLIAM LOCKIE CAMPBELL, 11 France Street, a gentlemen’s 15 ct. or 18 ct. gold hunting Waltham lever watch, “ Presented to W. L. Campbell, Esquire, by Messrs. Grinter Bros, for excellent services,” and date inscribed on inside of back case, “ W.L.C.” inscribed on outside of back case; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 9th June last postal pillar-boxes in the Epsom District, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), were broken open and the following stolen : Three letters containing postal notestwo for 2s. 6d. each and one for 4s. fid. (all recovered); a letter containing a cheque for £1 2s. Bd. on the Bank of New Zealand, Matamata, drawn by P. Melrose, and payable to H. Burrows, daf4d IQ/6/35. Identifiable. A iTWds-.

Court-shaped wedding. Rings are all 9 ct. gold except where otherwise stated; letter and number scratched on inside of each ring. Bangles 3 or 4 dozen rolled-gold expanding bracelets; 2 dozen expanding bracelets, 9 ct. and 15 ct. gold; 2or 3 dozen child’s curb bangles, 9ct. gold ; 4 dozen ladies’ bangles and armlets, 9 ct. gold. Watches —1 ladies’ 9 ct. gold expanding wristlet, Swiss make, case No. 49952 or 5055; 1 gentlemen’s gold hunting, key wind, case No. 3167, Pascoe’s repair No. 268 ; 1 ladies’ wristlet, chromium finish, black cord attached, engraved at back “ Elaine Court,” oblong shape; 6 under repair (no description); 1 ladies’ 9 ct. gold wristlet with rolled-gold wristlet attached. Badges— 4 “ Hilltop ” school badges, round shape, laurel on either side, brown and green enamel. ~ Broken Jewellery—6 oz. of 9 ct. gold bangles, and watch expanders; 1 oz. of 18 ct. gold in scraps ; 2 oz. of 9 ct. gold plate and wire scraps ; 5 oz. of gold and platinum filings ; 5 oz. of gold odds and ends; 1 ladies’ rolled-gold expander ; 1 rolled-gold fireman’s medal, with head on front; about 12 oz. of 9 ct. gold odds and ends (mounts, &c.); 6 oz. of gold filings. Brooches —6 babies’, flat bar, 9 ct. gold; 1 5-stone garnet, 15 ct. gold, stones in gold circular setting. Gold and Platinum ß oz. of 18 ct. gold, in form of bar and 1 „ scrap; 3 oz. of pure platinum, bar and scrap; 2 oz. of 1 ‘ palladium in plate; about 3-J- oz. of white gold, bar and scrap l/ 1 spade guinea ; 3 oz. of 22 ct. gold in plate ; 2 oz. of 18 ct. f n gold, white and yellow, in form of gallery. Precious Stones 1 O 12 diamonds; several packages containing mixed stones, ' including pearls, • sapphires, rubies olivines, amethysts, tourmalines, . emeralds, opals, corals,, &c. ; 5 small round bamboo boxes containing opals, rubies, garnets, turquoises, and pearls. Identifiable only by private marks. Suspicion is attached to Robert Gockburn, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 481, and Photographs, 1930, page 25 ; William McßeynoidS, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 481, and Photographs, 1932, page 19 ; Thomas Douglas Forsyth, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 476, and Photographs, 1928, page 16 ; Charles Ross, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 207, and Photographs, 1934, page 47 ; and Reginald Bloomfield, alias Arthur Archie Thomas, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 469, and Photographs, 1929, page 60. The suspects have all been arrested on other charges, hut no evidence has been obtained regarding this offence.

Auckland. Between the 20th June and 3rd July last, from a shed, the property of the NEW ZEALAND BREWERIES, LTD., Khyber Pass, a J.A.P. 24 h.p. engine, motor-cycle design, specially geared for lawn-mowers, M.L. magneto, high tension type, -fi- in. driving chain, ordinary plunger, with 2 ft. of -| in. copper benzine tubing ; value, £25. Identifiable.

New Plymouth. —Between the 10th and 12th ultimo, the premises of the FARMERS’ CO-OP. ORGANIZATION SOCIETY OF NEW ZEALAND, LTD., Powderham Street, were broken into and the following stolen : An alarm clock, small star with “J ” in centre on it; . and £1 in money : total value, £1 7s. 6d. Not identifiable. An attempt was also made to open the strong room by means of explosives. Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown)(l) Wearing a blue overcoat and grey cap. (2) Wearing gabardine overcoat and grey felt hat. The suspects were seen loitering about the rear of the premises.

Ohakune.Between the 17th and 19th July last, from the dwelling of GILBERT McNAMARA, farmer, Karioi, a •22 calibre Savage repeating rifle, No. 25297, model 25 ; a rolled-gold Waltham watch; and a gold cable watch-chain with pendant attached, shape of a closed book with gold band around it: total value, £l2 10s. Identifiable.

Hastings.lßth June last, from a motor-truck, the property of JOHN MacFIE PATON, farmer, Otamauri, a brown leather suit-case, size about 24 in. by 12 in. by 12 in., “ J.M.P.” in black letters on one side of case, one lock missing, containing a gentlemen’s grey flannel suit with double-breasted coat, fit a man about 5 ft. 8 in.; a hair-brush with “ J.M.P.” branded on it; a pair of gentlemen’s pink underpants, with complainant’s name marked on _ them; and a blue check shirt, with “ J.M.P.” on it: total value, £8 17s. Identifiable.

Marton.Between the 11th and 12th July last, from a wool-shed, the property of LIONEL HENRY SWAINSON MARSHALL, farmer, Fern Flats, six bales of medium crossbred wool, bales marked “ Makoiti,” five bales had “ E ” and one bale “ E. 8.” stamped on them; and one bale of crutchings, which has no marking on bale : total value, £7O. Wool-packs only identifiable. A lorry described hereunder was seen parked outside complainant’s farm at 8 p.m. on the 11th July last. Description : 24 ton, dark blue or . black colour, wooden cab, bright radiator, wooden sides to platform about 18 in. high, white band along bonnet, may have had twin wheels on rear.

Eketahuna.—WAlßAßAPA FARMERS’ CO-OPERA-TIVE ASSOCIATION’S shop broken into (see Police Gazette, 1935, page 197): Ten shirts with collars to match, six pairs of gentlemen’s shorts, five pairs of socks, a gentlemen’s tie, a pair of ladies’ hose, a gentlemen’s overcoat, and two plugs of Havelock tobacco, which were identified as being similar to some of the stolen property, were traced to the possession of Robert Cockblirn, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 481, and Photographs, 1930, page 25; William IV!CReynoids, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 481, and Photographs, 1932, page 19; and Samuel Jamieson McKee, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 506, and Photographs, 1933, page 82. They were charged with the offence, but the charges were dismissed by the Magistrate.
