Auckland. —Bth instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Sydney James Smith, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 11 in., clerk, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair going bald, blue eyes, eagle on right forearm, scar on left cheek and on upper lip. He has failed to make restitution, and he has also failed to report to a Probation Officer. (See Police Gazette, 1933, page 462.)

Auckland.— l4th instant, that a summons for failing to maintain his child may be served upon him, Albert James Britt, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., hotel porter, stout, build, fair complexion and hair. Zip /n e> I3S~

Auckland. Bth instant, on warrant for false pretences, W. Hammond, age thirty-five, height 6 ft. 2| in., motordriver, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, large nose. Accused obtained a pair of gum boots, a pair of working boots, and £6 6s. Id, cash from Benjamin Crocker, manager Crocker’s Boot Store, 334 Queen Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £8 6s. on the National Bank of New Zealand, Upper Queen Street, Auckland. He obtained three blank cheques from Edward Albert Johns, 142 Albert Street, one of which is referred to above. He may be identical with William Vernon Hammond, referred to in Police Qaze 1934, page 529.

Taumarunui. —llth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his three children, Henry Lionel Lenden, age twenty-eight, height 6 ft. 1 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; usually well dressed in a dark suit. Arrears to 9th March last, £260 18s. 6d. He is residing at 14 Moore Street, Roselle, Sydney, Australia.

Nelson. —3rd instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Dorothy Scott is the mother, Douglas Guthrie, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, one little finger bent and stiff; usually dressed in a navy- suit (no hat). Reeeton. — February last, on warrant for obtaining from Julia Osbourne, hotelkeeper, credit for board and lodgings to the amount of £1 4s. by fraud, Adam Gordon, age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., miner and labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair (bald on top), blue eyes, war injury on left shoulder, left arm shorter than right; dressed in a brown suit; fond of drink. Accused, with his wife, obtained accommodation at complainant’s hotel from the 13th to the 15th February last. Early on the morning of the latter date he removed his luggage from the hotel, and about noon he and his wife left Reefton by taxi and boarded the Greymouth train at Ikamatua. His wife is age about thirty, medium height, fresh complexion, curly fair hair, well dressed, and was wearing a dark-brown leather overcoat; and they had with them a small black cocker spaniel. Kaiapoi. — l6th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Linda Alexandra Thornton, and children, Christopher Josepher Thornton, age thirty-two, height about 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, tattoo-marks (which include clasped hands) on forearms and chest, scar on back of neck and on back of head; dressed in a navy blue suit, blue raincoat with belt, and felt hat; rolling gait. He may endeavour to leave New Zealand as a member of the crew of some vessel.

Rakaia. — instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Richard Scott, alias Goughian, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 8J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey,- grey eyes, long nose; fond of drink. Breaches of Arms Act. The following persons are to be located so that proceedings for failing to notify their change of address may be instituted against them (Arms Act): — Huntly. (l) Robert Shaw, miner, who, on the 21st January, 1922, registered a -22 calibre single-shot Winchester pea-rifle. (2) Johnny Westley Carr, labourer, who, on the 17th February, 1926, registered a -22 calibre single-shot Vickers rifle, No. V. 16042.

Kaikohe. Sidney Phillips, labourer, who, on the 15th February, 1925, registered a -22 calibre single-shot rifle.
