Accused, with his wife, obtained accommodation at complainant’s hotel from the 13th to the 15th February last. Early on the morning of the latter date he removed his luggage from the hotel, and about noon he and his wife left Reefton by taxi and boarded the Greymouth train at Ikamatua. His wife is age about thirty, medium height, fresh complexion, curly fair hair, well dressed, and was wearing a dark-brown leather overcoat; and they had with them a small black cocker spaniel.
