PROPERTY STOLEN.

Rawene. On the night of the 11th instant, a store, the property of Henry William Stephen Cheeseman, Rangiahua, was broken into and the following, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department) stolen : A safe (recovered); postal-twelve Is., Nos. 615775 to 615786 ; five Is. 6d., Nos. A 90596 to A 90600 ; nineteen 25., Nos. 498103 to 498121 ; thirteen 2s. 6d., Nos. A 031300 to A 031312 five 35., Nos. 233424 to 233428 nine 3s. 6d., Nos. B 46025 to B 46033; three 45., Nos. C 43838 to C 43840 ; four 4s. 6d., Nos. B 09509 to B 09512 ; fifteen 55., Nos. A 187205 to A 187219 ; one 65., No. 453959 ; four 6s. 6d., Nos. A 82322 to A 82325 ; five 75., A 69482 to A 69486 ; one Bs., No. A 58528 ; one 155., No. A 98892 ; one 165., No. 070052; one 17s. 6d., No. 066645 ; one 205., No. 488360 ; all postal-notes unused and undated ; postal stamps, value £lB Is. 6d.; relief stamps, value £9 6s. 4d. ; and £26 19s. 4d. in money ; also two sovereigns and three halfsovereigns (recovered); a heavy gold watch-chain with long links; and about £5 in money, the property of HENRY WILLIAM STEPHEN CHEESEMAN: total value, £74. Postal-notes and watch-chain only identifiable. Arthur David Ogle, Thomas Sheridan, and Kiri Tipene have been arrested for offence. . Safe and sovereigns only recovered.

Whangarei.— 23rd December and 21st January last, from a crushing-plant at Kauri, the property of the WHANGAREI COUNTY COUNCIL, a brass cylinder lubricator, 2| in. in diameter, 6 in. long, screw top with bar ; a brass cup lubricator, 2Jin. in diameter, 3 in. high, stem screwed f in. ; a 1{- in. brass screw valve ; a hollow centre brass releaser adjusting screw, 3 in. long, in. thread; a brass hexagon release-plug, f in. thread ; a § in. brass gooseneck, about 12 in. long ; two i in. and two J in. brass hexagon headed plugs for gauge-glass mountings ; two f in. brass blow-down pipes about 3 ft. long ; five brass hexagon lubri-cating-cups, f in. hole, 1 in. Whitworth thread ; two brass cylinder lubricators, 2 in. in diameter, 4| in. long, f in. thread, packing-nut on top, adjustable needle-valve fitted inside sleeve-valve ; a J in. brass steam-valve ; 2 ft. of f in. brass oil-pipe, threaded at each end ; and an adjustable Releaser safety-valve, square head, fin. thread, about 3 in. Ions: total value, £2l 12s. 6d. Identifiable. &

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). Between the 13th and 15th ultimo, from a cabin on the s.s. “ Rotorua,” the property EDGAR FREDERICK CLOW, quartermaster, a gentlemen’s gold-filled Rolex Marconi dress watch, grey or silver grained face, with “ Walker, London,” on it, number either B. 195 or A. 254; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. —2oth ultimo, from the shop of SKEATES BROS., 82 Queen Street, a 15 ct. gold brooch in the form of an oval bow with leaves, set with two diamonds and one pearl; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between 9th and 10th ultimo, the property of WALTER REUBEN VAUGHAN, 21 Karaka Street, Newton, a nickel Swiss pocket watch, “ Pascoe’s ” on dial, Roman numerals; a gentlemen’s 15 ct. gold watch-chain, double fetter and three ovals, with a 9 ct. gold pendant, set with an imitation amethyst bead attached: total value, £ll ss. Identifiable.

Auckland. — 21st January last, the property of GEORGINA JEFFREY, Rangatire Road, Birkdale, a ladies’ brown leather purse, about 5 in. by 3 in., zip fastener; an 18 ct. gold watch, “G. Forshaw ” inscribed on inside ; and 3s. 7d. in money : total value, £5. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. 2nd ultimo, from a dressing-shed at Orakei Basin, Remuera, the property of GEORGE FREDERICK DONN, Blind Institute, Parnell, a gentlemen’s nickel pocket Swiss “Braille” watch, closed face with double case at back, white dial with black English numerals, gold hands raised with white dots with black ring indicating the numerals. This type of watch is only obtainable from the Institute for the Blind ; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. — ultimo, the dwelling of JOHN COURTIER CRAWSHAW, 58 St. Helier’s Bay Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A small pair of opera glasses, black morocco leather binding, single centre screw adjustment, small compass between lenses; a bottle of No. 252 lavender water, and a bottle of Otto of Roses: total value, £2 7s. 6d. Opera glasses only identifiable.

Auckland. 27th January last, from his clothing at Orakei Basin, the property of NEVILLE LAURENCE OLDHAM, 8 Omahu Road, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold square Swiss wristlet-watch, “ S.A.Y.” engraved on back case, No. 72667, with pigskin leather wristlet attached; value, £2 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 12th and 13th instant, from a room at No. 8 Wellington Street, the property of MATE YURAN, nine £5 notes; two £1 notes, and one 10s. note : total value, £47 10s. Not identifiable.

Te Aroha. —l3th instant, from the dwelling of William Scott, farmer, Ngarua Road, Waitoa, the property of HERBERT WILLIAM NELSON and another, a gentlemen’s navy-blue suit, size 3, Sincerity brand, No. B 4663 probably branded on lining; a gentlemen’s double-breasted brown leather overcoat, size 4 ; a pair of gentlemen’s sports trousers, size 3, grey with green stripe, belt panels and plaits on each side; a gentlemen’s double - breasted sports coat, size 5, yellowish-grey with blue stripes, Kaiapoi brand; a pair of gentlemen’s nigger-brown sports trousers, size 5; a pair of gentlemen’s black box-calf shoes, size BJ, probably branded “ Whittome ” on inside; and 15s. in .money : total value, £l2. Ngaruawahia. — loth ultimo, from the dwelling of JOSEPH ARCHIE CROCKETT, Orini, a ladies’ open-face metal watch; a gentlemen’s silver wristlet-watch, silver expansion wristlet attaohed ; a gentlemen’s gold-mounted ribbon watch-guard with “ A.J.C.” on shield in centre; a gold ruby and pearl brooch ; a fountain-pen; and ss. 3d. in money : total value, £2 16s. 9d. Identifiable except money.

Napier.— January last, from a motor-car, the property of ANNIE MCCARTHY, 158 Hastings Street, a 13-plate Ajax motor-car battery, No. 958, branded “ J. 8.” in diamond; value, £6. Identifiable.

Napier. sth January last, from a tent at the campinggrounds, the property of CLAUDE SAMUEL WOODBURY, Gleneagles Flats, Wellington, a gentlemen’s double-breasted dark-brown leather motoring coat, fitted with belt, grey gaberdine lining ; value, £6. Identifiable.

Westport. 6th ultimo, from a motor-car at Giles Creek, the property of EDWARD SKILTON and another, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting keyless Waltham watch, No. 25002, similar to Illustration No. 2 in Supplement to Police Gazette, 1911, page 1; and about 10s. in money: total value, £5 Is. Identifiable except money.

Christchurch. l6th January last, from the shop of THOMAS HORNSBY, 4 Regent Street, a plain gold weddingring, about in. wide, size P; a gold ring, set with a cluster of seven diamonds and one diamond set diagonally on either side, crossover style; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold Elgin hunting watch, “ T. Sparks, from his wife, 1928 ” engraved inside on dome; a ladies’ gold Swiss wristlet-watch, white enamel dial, with leather wristlet; a gold ring, set with a large oval opal surrounded by a cluster of twenty diamonds; and £ll in money (mostly half-crowns): total value, £53 15s. Identifiable except money.

Timaru. — 17th ultimo, from a motor-car in Sefton Street, the property of IVY MAHALATH KENDALL, Pleasant Point, a new brown fibre suit-case, “ 1.M.R.” on lid; a brown and white striped silk dress; a blue dress; a tussore silk dress ; a light-blue cardigan; an orange and fawn cardigan; a blue jumper; three pairs of brown silk stockings; toilet requisites ; and a grey swagger suit, with large silver buttons on front and sleeves : total value, £lO. Identifiable.
