He is in possession of a grey suit with sports coat, a navy-blue suit, a brown suit, a new grey flannel suit consisting of a pair of trousers and a double-breasted coat, a pair of white trousers, a black and white striped blazer, and a brown bat. Accused obtained £8 2s. 6d. in money, and a set of Christopher Johnston carvers in brown case, believed to be numbered 6366 (value £2 7s. 6d.), from the New Plymouth Hardware Co. by means of a valueless cheque for £lO 10s. The cheque-form was one of nineteen stolen from Maurice Rawnsley Sutcliffe, Barrett Road, Omata, No. B 763498 to B 763516, seventeen of which have been passed at New Plymouth, and all valueless. He is now described as being forty-one years of age. On the 6th November, 1912, be married Bridget Elizabeth Scannell at Stratford, and on the 10th January, 1927, while his wife was still living, he went through the form of marriage with Caroline Ruth Crump at Waverley. Masterton. — Ist ultimo/ on' warrant for false pretences, R. ii. McNicol, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7-| in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, freckled sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, birthmark on right cheek ; usually dressed in a dark suit, fawn felt hat, and dark shoes. Accused incurred for board and lodging at the Park View Private Hotel a debt of 17s. by falsely representing to the proprietress, Mary Pauline Goodwin, that he was going to work for Mr. J. C. Cooper, farmer, who would pay the account. Complainant has identified the photograph of Robert John McNicol, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 650, and Photographs, 1926, pagej|6,_as that of the accused.

Wellington.—27th October last, on warrant for theft of £5, the property of John Spence, 8 McKenzie Terrace, Frank Wilson, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, pale complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, large nose, scar on left ear, on upper lip, and on left ring-finger. Accused, who was janitor in the Commercial Travellers’ Building, Victoria Street, was given by John Spence, secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, £5 to pay to Dr. Elliott. He failed to pay over the money, left his employment, and subsequently admitted to complainant that he had spent the money. He also stole a bicycle, the property of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, and sold it to a second-hand dealer. An information in respect of this offence has been laid against him. Wellington—l4th November last, for false pretences, Allan, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair wavy hair, blue eyes dressed in brown trousers, grey coat torn under arms (no hat). Accused obtained £1 from Anne Edge, proprietress of the Hotel Bristol, Ghuznee Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £8 155., signed E. T. Williams. Complainant refused to give him any more money on the cheque, but held it as security for £1 ss. which accused owed her for board and lodging. He is believed to be identical with Alan Edward Taylor, alias Allen Taylor, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 690, and Photographs, 1932, page 65. No warrant.

Wellington.26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Venessa Rita Glover, 10 Jacobs Place, Arthur George Maxwell Glover, age twenty-two, height 6 ft., seaman, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, small nose and ears, round face, good teeth, “ Bonny ” and lion’s face on right forearm, ship on right upper arm, small ship on left wrist, eagle and shield on left forearm, Japanese woman on left upper arm, large butterflies on front of each foot; well spoken ; erect gait; fond of drink.
