Whangarei. — ultimo, that a summons for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child may be served upon him, Frederick William Spencer, ago twenty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair and eyes, two upper front teeth missing, usually dressed in a brown suit and overcoat (seldom wears a hat); erect gait. Auckland. l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £3O arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife--18 Curran Street, Herne Bay, John George Rutherford, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., traveller, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, tiarkxhair, bl« 6 eyes. Auckland. — or about the 31st October last, on warrant for having carnal knowledge of Jean Isobel Hart, a girl over twelve years and under sixteen years (born 25th March, 1919), John Stanford Ludwig, age forty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, tanned complexion, brown hair turning grey ; may he dressed in a blue serge suit. Accused was working on his brother’s farm, which adjoins that of the father of the above-mentioned girl at Te Hoe, and on the 14th ultimo when the offence was reported to the police he disappeared. Auckland. —lsth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Arthur Major, age forty, height 6 ft., stumping contractor, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair; dressed in a grey suit and lightfelt hat turned down. Whakatane. 9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Leslie Richmond Henderson, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., motor-trimmer and blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, hazel eyes, scar on right forearm and on right knee; usually dressed in a dark suit (no hat). Accused obtained £4 7s. cash, and goods, value £2, from Charles Ernest Gibberd, clothier, The Strand, by means of a valueless cheque for £6 7s. There are other charges pending. Hastings.— 2Bth ultimo, on warrant /of commitment to Napier Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for engaging in a wrestling contest for which a permit had not been obtained, Phyllis Johanson, age about twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., showman’s assistant, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion; frequents agricultural shows. /W /'HI- 3 «-/"

Pongaroa. —The man described hereunder is to be located and interviewed : Man (name unknown), age about fifty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, black beard; ' dirty appearance, and carried a swag. On the 26th September last he was seen in an unoccupied dwelling at Korora, the property of Lars Peter Hansen, and he had then lighted a fire in the house. Next morning he vacated the house which, in the afternoon, was destroyed by fire. When located he is to be interviewed regarding the occurrence. The building was valued at £3OO.

Wellington. sth October last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, C. E. Campbell, alias G. M. Mason (names probably fictitious), age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fair complexion ; dressed in a blue/suit and hat; quietly spoken. Accused, in incurring a debt of £1 9s. 6d! with Messrs. E. C. Browne and Co., mercers, Willis Street,' for a pair of shoes, obtained credit by fradulently representing that he was C. E. Campbell, of Campbell and Co., 28-32 Queen Street, Auckland, and also that he was the New Zealand a* f ent for the Nobel Explosive Co. °

Wellington. 27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his child, Ernest Walter Gray, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 44 in., cook and labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, slightly bent nose, tip of left little finger injured, scar on left thumb and over right eye; usually well dressed in a navyblue suit, dark-brown hat, and tan shoes; quietly spoken; erect gait. He may be undergoing treatment at a sanatorium! (See Police Gazette, 1928, page 616, and Photographs, page 78.)

Nelson.— For escaping from Stoke Mental Hospital on the 18th ultimo, William Arthur Glennie, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, fair complexion, fair auburn hair; dressed in a grey tweed suit, shoes and blue shirt. Christchurch.— October last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance' order for the support of his two illegitimate children, John Edward Gibson, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., taxi- and bus-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, curly black hair, grey eyes, good teeth, portion of left little finger missing, scar on right thumb ; well dressed (no hat). Christchurch.- —11th October last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Eva Pratt, 14 Clive Street, Linwood, William James Pratt, age forty-four, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, good build, sallow complexion, dark hair going bald, blue eyes, broken nose ; usually dressed in a blue suit with double-breasted co'at. >

Waipawa. — R. Knowles, labourer, who, on the 2nd December, 1921, registered a -22 calibre B.S.A. rifle, No. 523202.

Martinborough.— Frederick Freeman Hack, contractor, who, on the Ist March, 1921, registered a -32 calibre Winchester rifle, No. 535477. He may be identical with man of same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 744. OulM/5/ $5 -

Pleasant Point. — Menzies Johnstone, labourer, who, on the 12th March, 1925, registered a -22 calibre Savage repeating rifle, No. 25343.

Invercargill.— Frank Knight, age about forty, labourer or farmer, medium build, dark hair and complexion, who, on the 22nd December, 1926, registered a -22 calibre Bayard semi-automatic rifle, No. 38386.
