Mount Eden.— l2th ultimo, from 12 Fleet Street, Newton, the property of ERIC FRANCIS WALKER, a pair of gentlemen’s tan shoes, size 7 ; and a ladies’ silver wristlet-watch, “ Mrs. Coward ” scratched on inside of case : total value, £1 2s. 6d. Identifiable.
Auckland. —lsth September last, from a Baby Austin motor-car, the property of JOHN DANIEL MORRISON, 230 Point Chevalier Road, a spare wheel to fit a 1929 model Baby Austin motor-car, size 26 x 50, Palmer tire, black with wire spokes ; value, £4. Identifiable.
Auckland. —Between the 28th August and 2nd September last, from a garage, the property of PASCOE REDWOOD, corner of Peel and Warnock Streets, Richmond, a -j- h.p. electric motor, Marelli brand, will run on either alternating or direct current, end of shafting slotted and bored with speedometer cable-chain and grinding- attached ; value, £B. Identifiable.
Auckland.- On the 23rd September.last, the dwelling of THOMAS LESLIE HARRISON, 47 Maungakiekie Avenue, One Tree Hill, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ 9 ct. gold hexagon wristlet-watch, with 9 ct. gold expanding bracelet attached, one link of which is damaged ; a child’s 9 ct. gold plain bangle; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold plain bangle; a ladies’ gold signet ring, with “ G.G.F.”. inscribed on it; and £1 in money : total value, £B. Identifiable except money. -
Auckland. —11th September last, from a motor-ear in Roslyn Terrace, the property of ARTHUR REDDELL, 12 Sadgrove Terrace, Mount Albert, a Baby Triumph motorcar spare-wheel, size 400 x 19, thick metal spokes, painted green, three bolt-fasteners, fitted with a well-worn tire; value, £5. Identifiable.
Auckland.— ultimo, from a cloak-room in the Auckland Electric-power Board building, Queen Street, the property of JAMES HEADLEY PORTEOUS, 31 Chester Avenue, a silver cigarette-case, checkered pattern, with. “ J.H.P.” engraved on it; value, £7. Identifiable. ■ /Swi ft) j'£i , .
Auckland. On the 15th August last, the dwelling of GEORGE HENRY JOHN CAMPBELL, 28 Wattling Street, Mount Eden, was broken into and the following stolen : A quart bottle of Teacher’s whisky; a Vaun lock-key, No. 12926; and a gentlemen’s dark-brown worsted suit, fit a man about 5 ft. 6 in., “ James Wilson, Tailor, Auckland,” on coat tag and on buttons : total value, £8 3s. 6d. Identifiable except whisky.
Auckland. NEVILLE ARTHUR GIBSON, 145 Hobson Street, a No. 2a Brownie folding autographic camera, made by Eastman Kodak Ltd., in a dark-brown leather case with long straps; value, £3. Identifiable.
Newmarket. On the 29th September last, the dwelling of MARY ANN BIGGS, 4 Sarawai Street, was broken into and the following stolen : Two gold wedding rings; a gold engagement ring, set with three rubies and two diamonds in claw setting; a gentlemen’s gold broad band ring, set with three rubies; and a gold brooch, studded with diamonds and amethysts, about 2 in. long: total value, £25 10s. Identifiable.
Onehunga. the 18th and 20th September last, from the dwelling of CLAUDE PURCHAS, farmer, O’Rorke Road, a ladies’ silver Swiss Baume open-face watch, 15 jewels, “ C ” scratched over a number on inside of back case ; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Mart (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fair complexion, reddish bristly hair ; wearing a well worn brown suit and grey felt hat; carrying a swag and old khaki coat.
Paeroa. —Between the 15th and 17th September last, the shop of HARE BROS., radio dealers, was broken into and the following stolen : An H.M.V. table type radio receiving-set, seven valves, model 65, serial No. 018514, four control switches, size of cabinet 19f in. by 18f-in. by 12 in.; and an H.M.V. table type radio receiving-set, model R. 4, Cathedral radio cabinet, seven valves, three control switches, serial No. 596419: total value, £55. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Clive Neville Watts, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 602.
Opotiki. Between the 28th and 29th August last, from a hut, the property of HAROLD WILLIAM DARLEY, Kutarere, a gentlemen’s brown leather cow-hide overcoat', tartan lining, “ H. W. Darley ” on lining of pockets ; and a cream silk coat-shirt, “ W. H. Darley ” printed in ink near brand : total value, £6 18s. 6d. Identifiable.
Opotiki.— the 22nd .July last, from a motor-car, the property of lAN JAMES THOMPSON, Wellington Street, a -22 calibre single-shot Bayard rifle, No. 44.172 ; value; £lss. Identifiable, • . .A
Napier.— ultimo, from a show-case, the property of GEORGE PETER STYLES, jeweller, Emerson Street, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold Swiss wristlet-watch, “ Styles and Styles, Jewellers,” on dial, leather wristlet attached ; a gentlemen’s silver Swiss wristlet-watch, 15 jewels, rectangular shape, leather wristlet attached with clips ; a gentlemen’s nickel Swiss wristlet-watch, 15 jewels, square shape, metal dial, leather wristlet attached; a gentlemen’s chromium Swiss wristlet-watch, rectangular shape, “ Rospin ” on dial, fancy leather wristlet attached ; a gentlemen’s silver Swiss wristlet-watch, cushion shape, “ Cyma ” on dial; a gentlemen’s Swiss wristlet-watch, 15 jewels, Tonneau shape, silver dial, leather -wristlet attached; a gentlemen’s gold-filled wristlet-watch, “ Cyma ” on dial, rectangular shape, leather wristlet attached ; a gentlemen’s chromium Swiss wristletwatch, 15 jewels, rectangular shape, leather wristlet attached ; a gentlemen’s gold-filled Swiss wristlet-watch, rectangular shape, jumping figure and known as “ Aero ” watch, leather wristlet attached; and a gentlemen’s Mido wristlet-watch, rectangular shape, fancy dial, blue enamel figures on case, leather wristlet attached : total value, £3l 13s. Identifiable.
Hastings.— the sth and 12th ultimo, from a woolshed, the property of ERNEST GROOME, farmer, Otane, four bales of Romney crutchings, about 400 lb. in each bale, three bales branded “ Onepu,” Nos. 1,2, and 3 respectively on end, one bale branded No. 1 “ Tuhana ” ; about 200 lb. Romney cross wool ; and about twenty Romney cross woolly sheep-skins, ear-marked with fork out of tip of each ear and age marked, some may also be ear-marked with “ M ” out of back of right ear, and some may bear a bottle brand in green, red, or black : total value, £47. Skins and bales only identifiable.
Hastings. About August last, the property of FREDERICK NORMAN GRADWELL, 821 Heretaunga Street W., a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 600868 B ; value, 10s. Identifiable. ;
Wanganui— the 15th and 16th ultimo, the shop of WOODLEY ARMSTRONG BROWSE, Koromiko - Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A fishing-net, about 23 yd. long, 4 in. mesh ; a fishing-basket, made of cane and bound on the edges with brown leather; a black leather bag, 18 in. by 0 in. by 6 in., three compartments ; a travelling rug, brown oh one side and fawn on the other side; a travelling rug, brown on one side and brownish-green on the other side, “ P ” worked in one corner in yellow material; and a gentlemen’s brown felt hat, size 7-J-, snap brim : total value, £7. Identifiable.
Palmerston North— the 26th and 27th ultimo, the offices of COUTTS BROS., 90 Church Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A Wooden cigar-box, about 14 in. by 8 in. by 6 in., containing a crossed cheque for £l2 15s. 3d. on the National Bank of New Zealand, Palmerston North, No. K 08600, payable to Courts Bros., drawn by Duncalf and Son, and dated 20/10/34; and £2 6s. in money: total value, £ls 2s. Identifiable except money. The ■ box was stolen from the strong-room which was opened by means of explosives.
Wellington.- Between the 30th September last and Ist ultimo, from a’room at 46 Mulgrave Street, the property of EDWARD ALEXANDER SPARKS,' a gentlemen’s doublebreasted brown" overcoat, herringbone pattern; fit a man about. 5 ft. 10-in., large collar ; value, £6 10s,. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to McKay (probably fictitious), age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. Jin., medium-build; fresh complexion, dark hair, full - f Ace ; wearing a navy-blue suit, navy-blue overcoat, long white scarf, and black pointed shoes. The suspect occupied-a room next to that of complainant, and he told the proprietress of the boardinghouse that he was a constable on escort dutv..-„
Richmond.-— l2th ultimo, from the Mental Hospital, Stoke, the property of NORMAN MUIR McLAREN, Nelson, a gentlemen’s double-breasted, heavy blue velour overcoat, fit a man about 6 ft., Cambridge make, right outside pocket restitched.;- a hair brush; a key-wallet; containing several keys; and a white silk scarf ; value,- £3. Identifiable. . .
Christchurch. 2sth August last, - front a stall at the Winter Show, the property of STACE Y AND HAWKER, LTD.. Essex Street, two gold medals and two silver-"medals (recovered), and twelve gold medals; about the size of a halfcrown piece, some have sheaf of wheat in centre and all are inscribed “ Stacey And Hawker ” or'-“-F. H. Hawker ” : total value, £l6. Identifiable.
Temuka. —Between the 27th and 28th ultimo, a store, the property of the CANTERBURY FARMERS’ CO-OPERA-TIVE ASSOCIATION, LTD., was broken into and the following stolen : A quantity of - tobacco, assorted brands ; value, £1 18s. 9d. Nob identifiable. The safe. was also opened by means of explosives.
