(all recovered except stud), R. Frazer, alias Roy Collins. The vacuumcleaner was sold to an auctioneer by a man who gave the former name ; and the typewriter was sold to Messrs. Armstrong and Springhalt by the same man, who gave the name Roy Collins. May last, for false pretences, Man (name unknown), height about 5 ft. 11 in., wearing an overcoat, felt hat, and motoring goggles. Accused obtained two Bridgestone motor-tires and tubes, size 450 by 21, value £8 Is. 6d., from William Unwin Harbertelle Cole, motor and cycle dealer, Bridge Street, by falsely representing by telephone that they were for J. Galbreath of Hope. In response to a telephone message purporting to be from Galbreath (who knew nothing of the matter) complainant forwarded the tires and tubes to Hope store, where delivery of them was taken by a man of the above description. No warrant.

Greymouth. 2lst instant, for assault with intent to rob, Man (name unknown), height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build; wearing a dark overcoat and grey felt hat. About 12.30 a.m. on the 21st instant, when, in response to a knock, Ewart Vincent Arthur, grocer, 134 High Street, opened the back door of his sitting-room which is attached to the shop, he found the man described above in the porch. This man whose face was covered with black semi-transparent cloth presented a rifle at complainant and demanded £ls. Complainant wrested the rifle from the offender, but in the struggle he was dealt two blows in the face. The offender then ran away, and in his flight he dropped a small green and brown striped face-towel, and an old light-grey Borsalino felt hat with fairly large hole worn in front edge of dent in crown, edge binding removed and no band. The rifle is described as a -22 calibre B.S.A. air-rifle, No. S 15622 on barrel, stock branded 141, G in circle over 94 in inverted V, fitted with rear B.S.A. aperture-screw sight and bead foresight, barrel slotted in centre for further sight. No warrant.
