His employers paid £637 10s. 4d. into an imprest account at the Bank of New Zealand, Pukekohe, with instructions to apply it for the purpose of purchasing calves for the Association, but he fraudulently applied to his own use the sum of £59 19s. 2d. New Plymouth.—On or about the 6th November last, on warrant for false pretences, Sydney Alexander Wright, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6| in., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, two slight depressions in forehead, scar on back of right hand ; dressed in a blue serge suit (no hat). Accused obtained 2s. 6d. from Ellen Kenyon, Carrington Road, by falsely representing that he was authorized by the Borough Council to sell and affix to their residences street numbers, and that those affixed by him were correct. Wellington. —On or about the 9th December last, on warrant for theft of £l4 Is. lid., the property of James Higgins and others, Bertram Charles Ross, age about fortythree, height about 5 ft. 7 in., cook and labourer, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair turning grey ; dressed in a brown suit, soft felt hat, and brown shoes. Accused, who was a relief worker at the Paraparaumu Relief Camp, was secretary of the sick and accident benefit fund established by the workers in the camp, and he has disappeared with the money in the fund. There is also another charge of theft on the 9th December last of a suit, value £2, the property of Charles Morris Wollard, to be preferred against him. He may be wearing the stolen suit, which is described as follows: Dark-grey tweed, ready-made, fit man about 5 ft. 5 in., cuff bottoms on trousers. Accused and complainant were drinking together in the Eastern Hotel when a dispute arose between them. Subsequently complainant was found lying in the urinal, and he states that he was assaulted by the man with whom he had been drinking. Accused may seek employment at freezing-works.
