Newton. —26th June last, from outside Valentine’s Garage, 221 Great North Road, the property of VIOLET MILDON, care of Sutcliffe, tobacconist, Upper Queen Street, a slot cigarette vending-machine, size 22£ in. by 7 in., painted red, No. 12, “ Twigg Engineering Company branded on it; value, £3. Auckland. —On the sth ultimo, the shop of JOHN HEINGOTT, dry-cleaner, 34 Victoria Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A large navy-blue coat a brown worsted suit; a newly-dyed black tweed double-breasted overcoat, with six large black buttons in front, both outside pockets have been repaired; a brown-striped sac coat; a navy-blue serge suit; and a pair of dark-brown trousers : total value, £2l 10s. Between the 13th and 14th ultimo, the premises of PERCIVAL JAMES KIRKLAND, 499 Main Street East, were broken into and the following stolen : An Emerson all-wave radio receiving-set, six valves, model A.W. 55, mantle cabinet; and an electric-iron, Westinghouse make : total value, £22 ss. Wellington. —Between the sth and 7th April last, from the shop of ARTHUR SCHAEF, 111 Vivian Street, a pair of Jenoptica field-glasses, branded 10 in. by 38 in., maker’s name stamped on metal frame, extra large aperture; value, £5 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), ago about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, sallow complexion; wearing a light-grey suit, grey hat with raised crown.

Wellington. —Between the 19th December last and 10th ultimo, from 48 Palliser Road, the property of ROBERTINA CASH MAN, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold hunting pocket-watch, English make, Australian coat-of-arms and “ Onward Australia ” engraved on back of case; a gold bar brooch, shape of a wishbone, set with diamonds, rubies, and bluish-green stones ; a gold band ring, with “ T.S. to R.C.” engraved on inside; a gold engagement ring, set with five diamonds, two of which are missing; a ladies’ gold band ring, with “ T.S.” engraved on outside; and a gold tie-pin : total value, £l9. During the night of the 2nd instant, the dwelling of WALTER SYDNEY HAMMOND, police constable, 15 Wallace Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A New Zealand police identification- No. 2988; Wellington City Council motor-driver’s licenses, from 1928 to 1933, in the name of W. S. Hammond; a dark-red leather card-case with mica covering on one side; a maroon-coloured alarm clock with luminous dial; and two Bank of New Zealand £5 notes : total value, £ll 2s. 6d. Identifiable except money.

Wakefield. —Between the 19th and 20th May last, from a tent at the Golden Downs Forestry Camp, the property of DONALD JAMES LOURIE, eight £1 notes and a ten-shilling note. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to J. W. Hagen, alias “ Darky, the Showman,” age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and showman, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, dark eyes; bird on back of one hand, tattoo marks on arms; wearing a grey suit and fawn /felt hat; carrying a small fibre suit-case. Identifiable.

—Between the 17th and 18th July last, from a motor-car, the property of CHARLES ISON MASTERS, Kelvin Chambers, Wellington, an aluminium X-ray filmholder, size 15 in. by 12 in. by i in., “ Watson ” stamped on it; two X-ray intensifying-screens, size 14 in. by 11 in., branded “ Patterson X-ray Intensifying Screens ” ; and an X-ray film-book, size 15 in. by 18 in. : total value, £l2.
