• Whangarei. 24th ultimo, from a motor-car, the property of ARCHIBALD HUME WATT, Te Kao, a brown leather attache-case, size 18 in. by 12 in., with “ 8.F.W.” on outside ; a set of hair-brushes in leather case; a safety-razor; three books, numbered one to four, bound in half calf, three of which are entitled “ Captain Cook’s Voyages,” and one entitled “ Life of Captain Cook,” each book has name on inside with “ Carlow” underneath: total value, £2l. Identifiable.
Newton. — On the 17th April last, a hut at 25 Edinburgh Street, the property of JOHN DUNN, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s gold watch-chain and English lever watch (recovered); and an open-face metal Westclox watch: total value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Frank Jackson (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair ; wearing a dark-blue suit and pullover. The recovered articles were sold to a .second-hand dealer. v.
Auckland. NETTLESHIP, jeweller, 19 Karangahapc Road, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold albert watch-chain; value, £3 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Woman (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 3 in., slight build, fair complexion and hair, large wart on left side of chin; wearing a black coat or costume, and black and white toque hat. She called at complainant’s shop and inspected wedding rings and watchchains, but did not make a purchase, and after she left the shop the watch-chain was missing.
Auckland. On the 12th ultimo, the dwelling of RONALD HERRICK, 195 Dominion Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A child’s money-box, with “ Ivan ” painted on it, containing ll|d.; a brooch, made from a boar’s tusk, with gold band on each end and bar across centre with shield, and “ H.D.” on it; a round gold brooch, with hole in centre; a dark-green heart-shape quartz, with gold band and fine gold chain attached ; a gold band ring, set with a ruby ; and two gold tie-pins : total value, £5. Identifiable except money.
Oneiiunga. Between Ist and 2nd ultimo, from a paddock, the property of ALLAN SOWERSBY, 68 Mount Smart Road, a light draught bay mare, age three years, white blaze down face, white from knees down on forelegs, white patch at off rear hoof, white saddle-mark ; value, £l4. Identifiable.
Hamilton. November, 1932, and 24th ultimo, from the dwelling of CLIFFORD VERNALL, Ellicott Road, Frankton Junction, eleven gold medals, nine of which have boxers engraved on them, all have “ C. Vernall ” and date inscribed on them : total value, £22. Identifiable.
New Plymouth. April last, from a room at the Nurses’ Home, the property of AUDREY NOLAN, a gold ring, set with three rows of pearls, with four in each row in claw setting ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
New Plymouth. About. 30th May last, from a room at the Nurses’ Home, the property of MARGARET EDITH MO ANA CUSSEN, a gold half-hoop ring, set with a diamond in platinum claw setting ; and a£l note : total value, £37 15s. Ring only identifiable.
Hawera. —loth instant, from a shop of HARROPS LTD., High Street, a gentlemen’s light-blue suit with yellow stripes, size 4, “ Lynx ”on tab ; value, £7 ss. Identification doubtful. Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown) — Age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair, tooth missing from bottom jaw ; wearing a dark navy-blue suit, light felt hat, black shoes, xuji shirt, white stiff collar, and light-grey tie : (2) age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 4 in., medium build, dark sallow complexion, dark hair, Jewish appearance; wearing a navy-blue suit, light felt hat, black shoes, fuji shirt and collar, and dark tie. They are also suspected of stealing a tobralco shirt, value 11s. 6d., from the shop of J. o—Robb, Ltd., High Street. Hastings. —lst instant, from the'Hawke's Bay Farmers’ motor-garage, Queen Street, the property of MARY LYONS, a ladies’ gold Omega wristlet-watch, No. 7322685 ; value £ll. Identifiable.
Hastings. — the 19th instant, the dwelling of GEORGE EDWIN TONG, 401 Southampton Street East, was broken into and the following stolen : A cash-box, size about 11 in. by 6 in. by 5 in., containing title deeds to a house, insurance policies, and papers; a gold muff-chain, about 36 in. long ; a gentlemen’s dress watch-guard, with “ G.E.T.” engraved on shield ; a rolled-gold cable bangle ; a gold tie-pin, horseshoe pattern; a pig’s tusk, mounted in gold, with “ E.W.” engraved on it; a gold wedding ring ; a gold engagement ring, set with rubies and diamonds in cluster; a gold band ring, with “ 1.M.T.” engraved on it; a gold ring, with “ E.W.” engraved on it; a gold medal, with “ Won by Bugler Tong ” engraved on it; a gold medal, with “ Collins Shield, Okawa Rifle Club, G. Tong ” engraved on it; three gentlemen’s dress studs; a pair of gold sleeve links, shield pattern, with “ G.E.T.” engraved on them ; a ladies’ gold hunting watch, chased case, gold dial; a gentlemen’s nickel watch ; a gentlemen’s gold heavy curb watch-chain; a Jubilee sovereign, mounted, in small leather sovereign-case; and a clock, in brass case, about 5 in. in diameter, pearl face, brass hands / total value, £36 Bs. Marton. Between the 20th November and Bth March last, from the dwelling of MOIRA FANNY CHAPMAN, Turakina Valley, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with three diamonds in claw setting; and a gold wristlet-watch, with leather wristlet; total value, £24. Identifiable.
Wellington. — On the 7th ultimo, the shop of YOW SANG, 19 Park Road, was broken into and £7 7s. in money stolen. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Raymond William Lookman, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 32 ' f/ gf 3
Wellington. Between the sth April last and sth ultimo, from the office of J. C. Hutton, Ltd., Ngahauranga, the property of ROBERT MACK, 199 Tinakori Road, a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 624660 B; value, £1 10s. Identifiable.
