Jones, Ltd., auctioneers, by means of a valueless cheque for £6 Bs., which he tendered in payment for a coil of barbed wire and 3 lb. staples, which he said were for J. H. Hardy, and which, at his request, were consigned to Whangarei. The goods were forwarded but were not claimed. No warrant.

Pukekohe. 29th April last, on warrant for theft of £1 Bs. 3d., the property of Christopher David Cantcll, labourer, Paerata, QcorgS Hayden Smith, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 91 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes, scars on left shin. Complainant collected £1 Bs. 3d. from his fellow-employees at Karaka Quarry Relief Camp and gave the money to accused to pay an account at the Bee-hive Stores, Pukekohe. Accused who advertised for junior clerks, falsely represented to applicants that he would teach them a system of Campbell bookkeeping. Wanganui.—On or about the 13th April last, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Granville Joseph Workman, alias Tom Workman, ago twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, natural teeth; usually dressed in a purple suit and brown felt hat. Accused who was employed by Hubert Big wood Francis, manager, Mate Mate Station, Upper Waitotara, until about the 23rd March last, stole a blank cheque from the latter’s cheque-book, filled it in for £4O, forged his employer’s signature to it, and uttered it to ARRESTEQ* Z/z/M

Leslie Jury, of McGmer’s drapery store in payment for clothing, value £9 4s. 6d. (receiving the balance in cash), among which was an overcoat of the following description : A good quality double-breasted heavy brown tweed coat, overcheck pattern, with pronounced brown check, size 3, belt of same material, satin lined, “ Bristol Bros., made in England,” on tab.

Wanganui.2lst February last, that he may be interviewed regarding theft of benzine and kerosene from the premises of Wright, Stephenson (referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 159), Arthur John Roberts, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 110, and Photographs, 1928, page 87. Jurgen Andrew Winded, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 250, who was suspected of the offence, states that the above-named was with him in Wanganui, and, he thought Roberts had bought the £ 3
