McG.” and date on back of case, with fine-gold expanding wristlet and safety-chain attached ; and a ladies’ gold watch, “ B. McG.-B 5/9/23 ” on back of case, with gold expanding wristlet and safety-chain attached : total value, £ls. Identifiable.
Auckland. —On the 23rd ultimo, the dwelling of BERTHA ROBINSON, 55 Esplanade Road, was broken into and the following stolen: A gold engagement ring, set with two diamonds and a ruby in claw setting; a gold bar brooch, set with three stones, yellow, blue, and green; a gold circular brooch, set with a blue turquoise; a pair of cuff links and a gold stud : total value, £22. Identifiable.
Auckland. — the 15th February last and 6th instant, from a poultry farm at 110 Lucerne Road, Remuera, the property of DOROTHEA JUNE HELLABY, about two hundred and sixty white leghorn and black Orpington pullets, about five months old, leghorns are imported American strain, all are toemarked with a small hole in the webbing of one foot, and have rings round legs : total value, £7BO. Identification doubtful.

Between tne 11th and 12th ultimo, the dwelling of WILLIAM GOODFELLOW; 27 Liverpool Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ gold Swiss wristlet-watch, with gold expanding bracelet; a gold filigree brooch, with large ruby in centre; an old oblong tartan brooch, set in gold with red and white Scotch pebble ; a gold filigree brooch, set with two moonstones; a brilliant brooch, butterfly of various colours set in silver; a mother-of-pearl brooch ; a 9 ct. gold necklet; a gold bangle, set with foreign gold coins and Scotch pebbles ; a platinum brooch, about the size of a shilling, set with diamonds ; a gold chain necklace ; a long chain, made of coins and links; a toilet-set in case, with “ Goodfellow ”on it; &c. : total value, £55. Identifiable.
Waitara. —Between the Ist and 2nd instant, the property of ALFRED HENRY ARTHUR OLIVER, farmer, Lepperton, a 1929 model 2f h.p. B.S.A. motor-cycle, black with green tank, registration No. 4-974, engine No. 21583 ; a pair of gentlemen’s grey-flannel trousers, about size 6 ; and 10s 4d. in money : total value, £3l ss. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Walter Smith, age about twentyseven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, strong build, pale complexion, black hair, blue eyes; wearing a blue or grey coat, light-grey trousers, blue canoe shirt, and brown-felt hat. Identifiable.
Wanganui. Between the Ist and 2nd instant, a store, the property of ROY BODY, Rangataua, was broken into and the following stolen : A quantity of tobacco and cigarettes, assorted brands, twelve tablespoons; a pair of dark-grey saddle-tweed trousers, size 6 ; two ladies’ tweed frocks; a grain sack, may be branded “ R. 8.” over “ R.G.T.” ; thirty pairs of gentlemen’s hose ; a gentlemen’s blue-grey pullover ; a quantity of chocolate, &c. : total value, £lB 12s. Identification doubtful.
Wanganui. Between, the 14th February last and 17th ultimo, from Ruanui Station, Mataroa, the property of WILLIAM McALPINE DUNCAN, one hundred fresh ' fullmouth Romney ewes, ear-marked with notch out of bottom of right ear and slit in top of left ear ; and about one hundred and nine four-tooth. Identifiable.
Wellington. Between the 16th and 17th February last, the dwelling of LEIGH EASTON BAXTER, 27 Kainui Road, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s gold open-face Waltham watch, “ Presented to L. E. Baxter by the Staff of the Cycle and Motor Supplies, Wellington ” inscribed on inner case; a gold curb double watch-chain; and a small brown leather purse, containing about £1 in money: total value, £8 11s. Identifiable except money.
Wellington. —On the 4th instant, the dwelling of ALEXANDER GILCHRIST, 23 Farnham Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s gold hunting Waltham watch, No. 99233 ; a gold watch-chain, long and short links ; a gold medal, football in centre, set with a diamond, “ Springbok ” on other side ; a silver sovereign-case, containing a sovereign and two half-sovereigns ; a 9 ct. gold band ring, with “ A.G.” engraved on it ; a ladies’ gold openface watch, with fine gold chain attached ; a ladies’ gold watch, glass-rim loose, dented on edge; a bow-shape gold brooch, one end of bow broken ; a gold signet ring, with “ C.M.F.” engraved on it; a pearl brooch, with a ruby set at one end; a gold oval brooch, set with a pearl ; a gold engagement ring, set with three diamonds in straight claw setting; a Yale key, No. 6011 ; and a padlock key total value, £l2O 10s. During the night of the 22nd ultimo, the shop of WHITCOMBE AND TOMBS, LTD., Lambton Quay, was broken into and the following stolen: Eight 9 ct. gold Sheaffer propelling pencils six silver propelling Sheaffer pencils; fifteen Swan fountain-pens of black vulcanite, selffilling, with 14 ct. gold nibs eleven Waterman fountain-pens of black vulcanite, 14 ct. gold nibs, self-filling; an Onoto brown mottled fountain-pen, 14 ct. gold nib, self-filling; two pen and pencil sets, Onoto brand, contained in kidneyshaped cases, covered with blue silk; three pairs of men’s slippers, size 8, made of soft brown leather, pliable soles; three leather kit-bags, brown colour; two leather attachecases ; twenty-four ladies’ handbags, assorted shapes, one is of grey lizard-skin; thirty double packs of playing-cards, gold edged, branded “ N ” in one corner; three roll-up manicure-sets, each containing six pieces; two scissors- sets, container made of blue imitation sealskin, containing three pairs of scissors, branded “ Sheffield, England ” ; a brown calf-skin bridge set, containing four packs of cards and two scoring tablets, branded “ Goodall and Sons ” ; a vellum box, containing two packs of cards and two scorers, shape of purse ; sixteen patience sets, box shaped, containing two small packs of cards, branded “ Goodall ” ; six bridge sets, containing two packs of cards; two leather stud boxes, with “ Studs ” branded on top four silver cigarette-cases twelve leather notecases of assorted colours ; a Tiny Tim four-valve radio, midget
type, crack on one side of cabinet, one valve bound with black insulating-tape; twenty-seven tennis rackets, not strung, of the following makes : New Era, Davis Cup, Regal, Lockyer, S. B. Weaver, The Popular, Super Hawke, Ruby, Imperial, Target, Speedwing, Topspin, Challenger, Swan, Embassy Jnr., Sport, Biplane, Leno; two hundred and ninety-three golf balls of the following brands : Bromford, Dunlop, Nimble, Silver King, Berwick, Blue Triangle, Hawke Ball, Championship, Topflite, Par, North British; one hundred and sixty - five tennis-balls ; a strung Topflite Spalding tennis racket; two dozen brown twill and rubber racket-covers; eight No. 10, eye-shades ; three No. 20 eye-shades ; two celluloid eye-shades ; twenty-one silk eye-shades ; sixty-nine leather grips for tennis rackets, branded “ Milestone ” and “ Autograph,” red and black; fourteen tins of Gripfast for tennis rackets ; two tins of Vivagut ; three canvas-covers for tennis rackets ; two iron net-winders ; nine Badminton presses; eight tennis racket presses ; a tin of Spalding golf-ball paint; a woollen pullover, with crew neck ; three pairs of white shoes, branded “ Bill Tilden,” size 8 ; four pairs of white shoes, branded “ Sakura ” ; fifty-seven shuttlecocks ; A gentlemen’s umbrella, branded “ Drytex Star Umbrella ” ; and a gentlemen’s heavy tweed overcoat, light grey, herringbone pattern, violet-coloured silk lining, probably branded “ Herb Price ” : total value, £296. Portion identifiable.
Nelson. Between the 10th and 14th ultimo, from a hut> the property of ALBERT SMALL, farmer, Whangamoa, a Krupp razor; a Bengal razor, each in a black case with complainant’s name on each case ; a large tin of biscuits ; and £1 in money : total value, £2 ss. 6d. Razors only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to three Men (names unknown), all ago about nineteen, carrying a swag.
Greymouth. —Between the 2nd and 9th February last, from the Greymouth Public Library, a copy of Webster’s dictionary, size about 12 in. by 9 in. by 6 in., may have “ Greymouth Literary Society ” or “ Greymouth Municipal Library ” stamped on some pages ; value, £2 10s. Identifiable.
Greymouth. —On the 2nd instant, the premises of SCHAEF’S LIMITED, Mackay Street, were broken into and the following stolen : A Stewart Warner De Luxe table model radio receiving-set, No. 12544 on plate of chassis; value, £27 10s. Identifiable.
Christchurch. lsth ultimo, from the dwelling of ANDREW JOHN GEDDIS, 3 Birdwood Avenue, a gentlemen’s black open-face Omega watch; a pair of French field, glasses, in black Morocco leather case; 'and a Gillette safety razor: total value; £9 1057 1 dentifiable. Suspicion is attached to Joseph CopeTj age about nineteen, height sft 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair ; no upper teeth ; wearing a brown coat, fawn flannel trousers with grease stains on each leg; sometimes wears a short blue raincoat. Accused was assisted in the commission of the offence by Darcy Joseph Steele, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 402, and Photographs, page 64, who has been convicted for this and other offences.
Dunedin. —30th ultimo, from the dwelling of GERTRUDE HALL, 17 Granville Terrace, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with three or four diamonds in platinum setting; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with an emerald and two diamonds in claw setting; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with an oval cluster of diamonds with large square emerald in centre, in platinum claw setting; and £l9 6s. 3d. in money : total value, £79. Identification doubtful.
Dunedin. —On the 30th ultimo, the dwelling of ALFRED ROLAND WILFRED McKENZIE, 15 Forbury Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ gold engagement ring, set with a diamond and two rubies, inscribed “ From A.M.C.K. to S.A. ”on inside; a ladies’ gold band ring, inscribed “ A.M.C.K. to S.A. ”on inside; a gentlemen’s silver watch-chain; a pair of gentlemen’s gold-rimmed spectacles, in case, with “ Easterbrook ” on it ; six steel knives, with white handles, in red cardboard-box; a pair of gentlemen’s canvas shoes, size 6, with brown facings and toecaps, rubber soles ; a pair of white linen double sheets ; two cream crepe de Chine blouses, square neck, bordered with cream lace ; a linen tray-cloth, oval shape, slightly scalloped, with red berries worked on it; a fine linen supper-cloth, 42 in. square, true lovers’ knots in blue at each corner ; a pink fuji silk, princess petticoat, pink and blue flowers on front; a blue fuji silk, princess petticoat, pink and blue flowers on front; a cream fuji silk, princess petticoat, with cream lace at bottom; a ladies’ black coney fur coat, small size, pink and blue shot silk lining, dark-brown skunk collar, one inside pocket in lining, three fur buttons with loops, elastic cuffs; a gentlemen’s double-breasted light-grey overcoat, with square check, three buttons, square-cut pockets; and a gentlemen’s double-breasted grey tweed Lynx overcoat, two outside pockets, square cut, grey lining: total value, £39 9s. Portion identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Two Young Men (names inknown), one of whom was wearing a grey suit and light-fawn hat, and the other was wearing a blue suit and dark-felt hat. They were in possession of a five-seater motorcar, grey with black hood.
Invercargill.On the sth instant, the dwelling of GLADYS MAUD WORSFOLD, 5 Herbert Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ gold wristletwatch, with “ Gladys from Charlie and Belle, 1922,” engraved on back case ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with a largo diamond in centre with pearl on each side; a ladies’ silver ring, set with a blue stone; and a gold pendant with fine gold chain attached : total value, £23 17s. 6d.
