Suspicion is attached to E. M. Mason, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, sallow complexion, skin-rash on side of face; wearing a dark suit (no hat). When the suspect claimed from the caretaker of the Point Chevalier bath his property (4s. 6d.) deposited for safe-keeping, he received complainant’s property, and did not direct the caretaker’s attention to the mistake.

Complainant, who is blind, met the suspect in the Waverley Hotel. They boarded a tram with him, and stole the articles from his waistcoat pocket.

Suspicion is attached to Harold Mercer, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 51 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, three vaccinationon right arm. He has been arrested on another charge, and interviewed regarding the above offence, but no evidence resulted.

Nelson. —Between the 25th and 26th February last, from a room in the Central Hotel, the property of DAVID CORMACK SCLATEIt, 19 Marsden Avenue, Karori, Wellington, a gentlemen’s open-face gold watch, No. 8359 ; a gold watch-chain, lover’s knot design, with silver sovereign-case attached; an Onoto fountain-pen; and a gentlemen’s double-breasted light-brown gabardine overcoat with belt: total value, £l9 ss. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Claude Francis Oakley, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 502, wearing a light-grey suit, and brown tweed overcoat. Suspect was staying at the hotel when the offence was committed, and disappeared without paying his board. When located he is also to be interviewed regarding a gold watch, withl/T.
