Whangarei. ultimo, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him (Arms Act), John Smith, labourer. On the 7th November, 1921, he registered a '32 calibre Harrington and Richardson five-chambered revolver, No. 305023.

Auckland. 2nd December last, for theft of a leatherite bag (recovered), value 155., the property of Charles Wise, second-hand dealer, 92 Hobson Street, Leonard Reid, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, medium build, dark complexion ; dressed in a blue serge suit. Complainant recovered the bag from accused whom he saw taking it from the front of the shop. Mo warrant.

Auckland. — January last, for theft of seven sets of mathematical instruments (recovered), value £5 15s. 6d., the property of Champtaloup and Edmiston, stationers, Queen Street, Sam Gildby (name probably fictitious), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 10 in., student, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair ; dressed in a grey suit (no hat). Whilst employed as a- salesman by the above-mentioned company he obtained £3 19s. from Mrs. Crowne, and failed to account for it to his employers. There are other charges pending.

Accused attempted to obtain £4 18s. from John Albert Shea, licensee, Old Bank Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. He may be identical with Alexander McCuish, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 256, and Photographs, 1929, page 15. The cheque was from the cheque-book of Mrs. Mary Sides, 15 Te Weka Street, Timaru.
