Auckland. l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for a breach of the city by-laws, Alfred Phillip Harrington, age about thirty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., travelling agent, native of England, medium build, brown hair, short features; usually wears dark spectacles. He is said to represent the Tung Oil Co., and travels in a T dark-green Whippet car, registration No. 78-832. /b/ff/S 2-"

On or about the 16th August last, for theft of a pair of beach pyjamas and a heavy silk dressing-gown (black with some colourings), value, £ll, the property of Margaret Bush, 20 Symonds Street, May Louden, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair; well dressed. Accused was staying with complainant when the offence was committed, and when located she is to be interviewed. Auckland. — 10th September last, on warrant for theft of an electric wireless receiving-set, value, £l3 10s., the property of Henry Cecil Berridge, Horace McMullen, age about twentysix, height 5 ft. 9 in., radio salesman, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion and hair, sharp features; usually dressed in a blue or brown suit and felt hat; speaks quickly. Accused stated that he had purchasers at New Plymouth and Inglewood waiting for wireless-sets, and persuaded complainant to let him have four sets, one of which he sold to John Harold Groves, Eltham, for £l3. He failed to forward any money to complainant, and has disappeared.

Waikoa. —31st ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Monica May Schultz, North Clyde, Charles Augustus Schultz, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, large nose, full face, and puffed about eyes. Rongotea. —29th ultimo, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address (Arms Act) may be instituted against him, Karl David Barnett, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, full fa^^_^^sed-in^ grey suit and cap. Dannevirke. — Ist instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Alice Marion Lang, and three children, Tepapakuku, Harry Clifton Lang, age thirty-one, height about 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, wavy auburn hair, brown eyes, scar on back of left hand; dressed in a brown suit (sometimes wears grey trousers); frequently does not wear a hat. His photograph is filed. He may be accompanied by Mrs. Ethel Biddlecombe (age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 5 in., native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes), *and her two children girl age six, and-a boy .age/three. Lower Hutt. On or about the 30th July last, on warrant for making a false .statement under the Unemployment Amendment Act, 1931, Arthur Dunstan Summerton, alias Carter, age about forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, thin build, fair complexion, hair turning grey, cyst under right side of jaw; usually dressed in light-coloured trousers, light coat, blue overcoat, and light-fawn felt hat. Wellington. —On or about the 23rd September last, for theft of a diamond ring (recovered), value £ls, the property of Alice Chalmers, 100 Nairn Street, E. W. Edwards (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., slight build. The ring was recovered from a pawnshop. No warrant.

Wellington. —29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Lillie Stewart, domestic, 13 Brook Street, Thorndon, Herbert Stewart, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 46. Arrears to 11th January last, £269.

Wellington. Olga Jessie Park, inquired for : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that she is now in Sydney (Australia). (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 318.)

Tokaanu.Charles Bennett, alias Richard Jones, escaping from custody. His photograph has been identified as that of a man who on the 26th ultimo solicited financial assistance from Mr. L. N. Wellington. 6th instant, that two summonses for selling documents in imitation of a judicial process may be served upon him, William Edward Allison, age about fifty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., journalist, native of Canada, strong build ; usually well dressed in a navy-blue suit and bowler hat or cap ; fond of drink. He has been selling, for 10s. 6d. per block of fifty, forms headed “ Final Notice of Intention to Proceed in the Local Court for Recovery of Debt.” At Palmerston North a similar summons has been, issued for service upon him. 7/6/5'3

Reeeton. 27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 fine and costs for mischief, Walter Lindsay, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, prominent nose ; dressed in dark-grey trousers, dark-bfpwn coat* and/grevpap.

Christchurch. 2nd June last, on warrant for false pretences, L. F. Smith (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., strong build, ruddy complexion, dark hair; wears a double-breasted navy-blue nap overcoat (no hat); untidily dressed. Accused obtained goods, value £5 6s. 5d., from the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Cashel Street, by falsely representing that he was a son of George Gage Smith, Broadfields, Canterbury, and that he had authority to have the goods entered to his father’s account.

Christchurch. 3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for thirteen days in default of paying £3 Bs. 6d. fine and costs for disorderly behaviour, Charles Bryant, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 41 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; scar over left eye, tip off right forefinger, birthmark on left hip. Dunedin. On or about the 18th August last, on warrant for false pretences, Douglas Campbell, age about thirty, height 5 ft* 7 in., dancing-instructor, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, wavy dark hair, brown eyes, small moustache; well dressed in a navy-blue suit (no hat) ; plausible manner. Dunedin. Between 6.45 p.m. and 930 p.m., on the 16th ultimo, a Studebaker motor-car, value £250, the property of Charles Hayward Grant, salesman, was unlawfully removed from Royal Terrace by some person unknown, who abandoned it in Mornington Road, where next morning it was found completely destroyed by fire. Any information concerning the offence is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Dunedin.

Dunedin. —l2th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for purchasing second-hand goods after 6 p.m., Elsie BrachCj age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., second-hand dealer, native of Australia, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, Roman nose ; well dressed ; Jewish appearance.
