Between the Bth and 9th ultimo, a hut, the property of CHARLES THOMPSON LAURIE, Atkinson Road, Titirangi, was broken into and the following stolen : A pair of field-glasses ; a pair of boots ; a pair of blue trousers, size 3 ; a brown overcoat; a Primus stove ; a pair of ladies’ black patent-leather shoes, &c. : total value, £l4 12s. Identifiable,
Auckland.— On the 7th May last, from a room in the Central Hotel, the property of WINIFRED MARY RUSSELL, six £1 notes and a 10s. note. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to complainant’s brother, Thomas Russell, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., native of Scotland, slight build, fair complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a grey suit (no hat).
Cambridge. Between the 3rd June and sth August last, from the dwelling of MEREDITH BROOKE FLETCHERTOOMER, farmer, Whitehall, a gentlemen’s small halfhunting gold keyless watch, “To Boodles, on his 21st birthday, July 14th, 1923 ” on case, believed to have “ Harrods, London ”on dial; and a small 18 ct. gold curb watch-chain, similar to Illustration No. 15, in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2 : total value, £25. Watch only identifiable.
Putaruru. About the 2nd February, 1922, the property of THOMAS HENRY NAFTEL, tobacconist, a -38 calibre Harrington and Richardson five-chambered revolver, No. 46389 ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Thames. Between the 29th November and Ist December, 1925, the property of JOSEPH MOYLE, Puriri, a *303 Lee Enfield rifle, 1 V.R. 1895, No. 4546 ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Napier. 3oth June last, from a shop at 254 Hastings Street, the property of EDMUND CHARLES ROBINSON, 11 Wellesley Road, a set of gold-coloured Avery confectionery scales, weighs up to 2 lb., nickel scoop, 15 in. high, glass broken in front, piece of casting broken off frame ; value, £2O. Identifiable.
Wanganui. —Bth instant, from a motor-car, the property of ALICK GILMER, 11 Massey Street, Frankton Junction, and another, a brown leather suit-case, size 30 in. by 24 in. by 10 in., containing a jockey’s cap ; leggings ; a pair of brown lace-up boots, size 5 ; white silk riding-pants ; black ridingboots, with brown tops; spurs; and several articles of clothing; a brown fibrecane case, Globelight make, containing a pair of white silk riding-pants, a pair of riding-boots, size S-J-; three girths and surcingles ; two riding-whips ; a jockey’s cap, size 6|-; an oiled silk shirt; a pair of spurs ; two pairs of stirrup-irons and leathers ; a light breast-plate ; several articles of clothing ; and a gentlemen’s brown leather overcoat, small size : total value, £49 ss. Identifiable.
Wanganui.— loth ultimo, from a motor-car, the property of CEDRIC ZAHARA, 12 Gladstone Buildings, Auckland, a brown leather suit-case, size 16 in. by 10 in., containing a pair of fawn plus-fours ; an emerald-green pullover ; a grey silk dressing-gown ; a pair of silk pyjamas ; a pair of brown leather slippers ; a pair of golf socks ; two brown ties ; and a golf cap : total value, £ls. Identifiable.
Petone. Between the Ist and 23rd August last, from a motor-garage, the property of THOMAS EDWARD SHEIL, 8 Herbert Street, a '3B calibre five-chambered Harrington and Richardson revolver, No. 111086 ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Wellington. On the 13th August last, the dwelling of ALLEN DOUGLAS HALL, 14 Douglas Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ gold engagement ring, set with three diamonds in straight claw setting, centre diamond slightly scratched; and £1 in money : total value, £2O. Identifiable* except money. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., canvasser, medium build. He was canvassing for the sale of a disinfectant.
Wellington. Between the 11th and 13th instant, from a room at 8 Nelson Street, the property of JOHN BOURKE, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold hunting pocket watch, No. 120701, plain case, with “J. 8.” engraved on it; a 9 ct. gold small fine chain ; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold hunting watch, No. 221764, “ A.W.” engraved on outside of case; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold double watch-chain, cable pattern, with crystal stone attached in centre; a gold sovereign-case, with “J. 8.” on it, containing a half-sovereign ; a . gold nugget; a crystal stone; an 18 ct. gold tie-pin, set with a clear opal; a pair of 15 ct. gold sleeve-links, each set with an opal; an 18 ct. gold wishbone brooch, with map of Australia and “ Australia ” on it; als ct. gold brooch, with a heart, two small bars, end is broken of one of the bars; a post office savings-book, in name of John Bourke; a tan leather wallet, with four compartments ; a small iron box, size 18 in. by 12 in. by 5 in.; and £2O in money : total value, £92 10s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Harold George William Stevenson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 586, and Photographs, 1923, page 84. The suspect, under the name Hickson, was staying at the same house as complainant, and at the time the offence was committed left suddenly. MtIMWILUM/ ////J3.
Wellington. —Between the Bth and 11th August last, from a motor-car, the property of RICHARD JAMES BURNS, traveller, David Street, New Plymouth, a brown leather suit-case, containing a pearl-grey xylonite hand-mirror; a tortoise-shell tinted xylonite mirror; a small white xylonite mirror; four hair-brushes, with xylonite backs; a number of stud and handkerchief xylonite boxes ; and a blue-covered catalogue, with “ British Xylonite Co.” on it: total value £lO. Identification doubtful.
Wellington.— Between the 17th June and 29th August last, from a room at the Trocadero Hotel, the property of ARTHUR GRANGE, twelve stainless dessert knives; a number of forks and spoons ; and a set of stainless carvers, with white handles, in case. All silver stamped “A 1 1 oz. E.P. Ashberry ” : total value, £lO. Identifiable.
Nelson. Between the 28th August and 9th instant, a hut, the property of ROBERT NELSON HARLEY, brewer, was broken into and the following stolen : A hurricane-lamp ; a quilt; and three rugs (recovered); an aluminium kettle ; a grey cardigan; a pair of saddle-tweed trousers; a set of gentlemen’s Roslyn underwear; and a number of tins of peaches, apricots, &c. : total value, £4. Portion identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Two IVlen (names unknown) —(1) Age about nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., dark complexion ; wearing a lumber jacket and brown trousers. His name is believed to be Rupert Brooks. (2) Age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair hair and complexion ; wearing a navy-blue suit. His Christian name is believed to be Pat.”
Christchurch.— On the 30th August last, the dwelling of GENEVIEVE LAWRY GILBERT, 38 Dean Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold-mounted cameo brooch of woman’s head ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with an onyx with pearl set in centre; a gold cross, with “ H.J.C.G.” on one side, and “ 1.H.5.” on the other side; a gold chain, with greenstone locket attached ; a gold-mounted cameo, with pendant in centre; a gold oval pendant; a string of imitation pearls; a gold chain, with heart-shaped amber pendant attached; a brooch, studded with emeralds and diamonds, with plaited hair in centre; a silver locket, shape of a horse’s hoof; a pair of gold earrings, gold ball suspended from each by two or three links of fine gold ; and a filigree brooch, set with greenstone and imitation pearls : total value, £25 10s. Mostly identifiable.

Between the 13th August last and 3rd ultimo, from “New Zealand Truth” Office, Gloucester Street, the property of RONALD NATHAN ALBETT, journalist, a Duoflex box camera, size about 8 in. square, covered with black imitation leather, in a light-tan case, with leather handle, catch on folding-hook broken value~4>23,/Jden
