Hikurangi. Between the Ist March last and the 30th June, the magazine of the GREAT BRITISH MERCURY MINING CO. at Puhipuhi, was broken open and 40 lb. Nobel’s gelignite, in eight 5 lb. packets, and one hundred detonators, stolen : total value, £3 19s. 6d. Not identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 23rd ultimo, the dwelling of EMMIE CLARA CARDER HILL, 73 St. Stephen’s Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold curb watchchain, repaired with a small round gold link; a gold medal, with “ Presented to R. Smith, Chairman, Helensville Branch i A.S.R.S.” on one side, and map of New Zealand on the other side ; and a medal, with “ Awaroa Bowling Club Championship, won by R. Smith, Presented by G. Murphy, Esq.” on it; a ladies’ ring, set with five diamonds in straight setting; a gentlemen’s gold signet ring ; a gold ring, set with three rubies and two diamonds ; a star pendant, set with a ruby in centre, and pearls along each point, and ruby in tip of each point; a flower-and-leaf emerald brooch, set with two emeralds, one leaf broken ; a plain gold bangle ; a ring, set with seven sapphires and pearls ; a thin gold wedding ring ; a gold tiepin, set with pearls in a cluster ; and a gold shield medal, inscribed “ E. Hill, Shipley, Bradford Association League ” : total value, £49 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the 18th ultimo, the dwelling of JAMES STURAT DRUMMOND HANNA, 143 Bassett Road, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen: A silver maltese cross, with “ R. T. During the.night of the 16th ultimo, the dwelling of LESLIE DE BAC RICKS, 1 Dilworth Terrace, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s gold hunting watch, with “ C.G.R.” engraved on back; a heavy 9 ct. gold curb watch-chain, with medal inscribed “ L. Ricks, 1912,” and greenstone pendant and silver matchbox attached; a gentlemen’s gold hunting Rotherhams watch ; a gold' light curb watch-chain ; a small cigarettecase ; a gentlemen’s gold signet ring, with “ H.H.” on it; and £3 19s. in money: total value, £45 19s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. —On the. 17th ultimo, the dwelling of ROY ARTHUR LIGHTEOOT, 60 King George Avenue, Epsom, was broken into and the following stolen: An 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with two large diamonds in tiffani octagonal setting ; value, £22 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland, —On the 4th ultimo, the dwelling of JOHN NESHAM GORDON, 25 Omaho Road, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s light greenishgrey single-breasted overcoat; a black imitation sealskin fur coat, with skunk collar and cuffs, piece let in all round at bottom and joined with braid; a black Coney fur coat, lined with brown brocaded silk, torn at armpits; a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch, with gold dial ; a jade necklace and earrings to match; a graduated pearl necklace; a black fountain-pen, with “ J.H.G., 12/4/29 ”on it; a fine gold mesh wrist-band for wrist-watch, with gold buckle ; a ladies’ silver-backed hair-brush, with “ J.G.” on back; a small silver travelling clock, in black leather box ; a small grey morocco suit-case; a long gold granny chain, with key attached ; a gold bracelet, set with opals ; a silver pin, with large head ; a gold ring, set with three blue sapphires in claw setting ; a gold ring, set with gold pearl in claw setting; a small gold band ring ; a gold scarab brooch ; a gold war badge; a pair of ladies’ patent leather shoes, size 5, with grey let in at sides; a silver chain, with mother-of-pearl let in at intervals ; two small silver chains; a moonstone brooch like a beetle; a gold ring; two moonstone drops for earrings; and a ladies’ small hunting watch, with “ Kathleen Chaworth Musters ” on inside case : total value, £lO5. Identifiable except money.

Hunterville. — Between the 6th and 7th ultimo, from the Rata Co-operative Dairy Co.’s pump-house, the property of WILLIAM JOHN LEE, a silver Swiss wristlet-watch, with grey suede wristlet attached, 15 jewels, “ Gerrantt, Jeweller, Palmerston North ”on dial; value, £5. Identifiable.

Petone. — About the 9th July last, from a farm at Wainui-o-mata, the property of JAMES WRIGHT, 76 Happy Valley Road, Wellington, a 2/ h.p. Crossley engine, engine No. 07830, marine No. 63923 ; and a circular-saw with spindle attached : total value, £3O. Engine only identifiable.

Wellington.— the 27th June last, the shop of LAUCHLAN AND CO., 90 Courtenay Place, was broken into and the following stolen: Two gentlemen’s rolled-gold halfhunting watches; three gentlemen’s gold Marvin wristletwatches ; a ladies’ gold locket; four ladies’ gold brooches; a ladies’ silver pendant; eleven gentlemen’s gold signet rings, “ W.J.” and horse-shoe engraved on inside; nine ladies’ gold rings, set with diamonds in claw setting; ten gold wedding rings ; eighteen ladies’ rolled-gold expanding-watch bangles; a cameo ring, with “ W.J.” and horse-shoe on inside ; twenty-one ladies’ 9 ct. gold expanding wristletwatch bangles ; a gentlemen’s 8 ct. gold fob ; a ladies’ plain gold bangle ; seven gentlemen’s greenstone pendants ; sixteen gentlemen’s gold signet rings, with “ W.J.” and horse-shoe engraved on inside; two ladies’ plain gold signet rings; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold chain; three pairs of gentlemen’s greenstone sleeve-links; a ladies’ gold chain, with small oval links ; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold ring, set with a pearl in claw setting ; three chased platinum wedding rings; a small greenstone tiki; two ladies’ chromium watch-bands ; and three ladies’ gold chain necklets: total value, £317 19s. 6d. Portion identifiable. Edwin George Valentine Roberts, alias Edwin Maloney, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 425, and Photographs, page 62, and Raymond Patrick Letton, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 588, and Photographs, 1924, page 16, have been charged with the offence. Although a large quantity of property has been recovered, having been found packed in a box ready for removal from the premises, the complainants allege that the above-described property was also stolen.

On the 15th August last, the dwelling of FLORENCE PORTER and MARY ISABEL SHEPPARD, 144 Coromandel Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold oval locket, size 1|- in. long by 1 in. wide ; a gold chain bracelet; a gold narrow-band bracelet, with raised ornament on top, set with a diamond and two sapphires; a long oxidized neck-chain ; two gold bar brooches; a small purple heart-shape amethyst, with gold chain attached; a

ladies’ gold double-cased watch, “ M.S.” or “ M.E.S.” on outside case ; a fine gold chain, about 60 in. long, a silver cross, with “ St. Agnes Guild ” on it, and a small silver badge with clasped hands on it attached ; a ladies’ small silver wristlet-watch, with black leather wristlet; a small gold band ring, set with small pearls ; a Kruger sovereign brooch ; a Kruger half-sovereign brooch; a brown kit bag, “ 1.5.” or “M. 1.5.” stamped on outside ; a gold brooch, set with a large yellow oval stone in centre ; a gold heart-shaped brooch, with raised vine-leaf of gold in centre ; and a coney-seal fur coat, full length, heavy black long fur on collar, three black fur buttons on left side, pink and fawn lining, floral design : total value, £24 7s. 6d. On or about the 26th August last, the property or HENRY MONK and another, a Bengal razor, with white handle, “ Salomander ” on case; a white shirt with brown stripes ; and a book entitled “ A Certain Dr. Thorn dyke ” : total value, £l. Suspicion is attached to Andrew Walter Collins, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 302. He has a noticeably full face, looks older than he actually is, and was dressed in a blue serge suit, doublebreasted coat, and tan shoes (no hat). EMILY SKERRITT, 32 Thane Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold band ring ; a gold engagement ring, originally set with five stones in a row (four now missing), the remaining stone is a sapphire at end of row ; a gold pendant, with two photographs of a child inside ; a broken gold heart-shaped brooch, originally set with a stone which is now missing; a pair of pince-nez glasses, with oval lenses one of which is chipped at each end, small piece of chain attached; a pair of spectacles, with gold rims and strong lenses; a two-cell torch ; seven keys taken from doors in the dwelling ; a heavy-blade razor, with black handle, “ Ator, Guaranteed ” on case ; a light-blade “ Featherweight ” razor, with black handle; a gold-coloured Gillette safety-razor ; three safety-razor blades; and a gentlemen’s navy-blue double-breasted velour or nap overcoat, half-belt at back : total value, £7. Portion identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Evans (name probably fictitious), age about twentytwo, height about 5 ft. 5 in., strong build, brown wavy hair, slight lump on right side of nose, full face, eyes appeared weak, and he was carrying glasses ; quiet speech ; dressed in a navy-blue suit with double-breasted coat, slate-coloured tie fitted to stud, and tan shoes. He may be identical with Andrew Walter Collins, referred to in preceding paragraph.
