Wanganui.— 26th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, N. H. Wilson (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion: wearing tweed overcoat, fawn hat, and jazz-coloured silk scarf. Accused obtained from John Shields Armstrong, St. John’s Service Station, £5 os. 4d. in money, and motor-oil, value 9s. Bd., by means of a valueless cheque for £5 10s. On the 21st ultimo he opened an account at the Union Bank of Australia with a deposit of £5, and received a cheque-book, No. 2 A 136981-2 A 137011. There are other charges pending. Wellington. —26th ultimo, that heWnay he interviewed regarding suspected forgery, James Thomas Nea!, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 4 in., steward and labourer, inclinedsto stout build, dark complexion and hair; well dressed inja fawn suit and light-coloured cap. Neal became acquainted with an old man named William Coles Osborn (now deceased), of 37 Bidwell Street, from whom he borrowed £22 10s., and to whom he gave a document dated 31st December, 1931, acknowledging the debt and setting out a condition of repayment. To this document is appended Neal’s signature, in addition to which there is a witness’s signature purporting to be that of “ Thos. Gorrell,” who is now thought to be a fictitious person, and'Neal is suspected of having forged the signature. Christchurch. 27th ultimo, that he may be interviewed regarding his ability to maintain his wife and two children in Glasgow, Scotland, William Patrick McCaffrey, age about thirty-two, height about 5 ft. 7 in., seaman and labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, long features ; usually wears a grey or check cap and patent leather shoes. Inquiry is at the instance of Mr. M. A. Reynard, Director of Public Assistance, 266 George Street, Glasgow, Scotland.
Christchurch. —9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, C. S. Nathan, alias Captain G. S. Cunliffe, age about thirty, height 6 ft., light build, fresh complexion, wavy black hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit, grey felt hat, and black patent shoes. Accused obtained £7, and a Voightlander camera, value £5 10s. 6d., from John Proctor and Co., photographic dealers, 200 High Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £l2 10s. 6d. The photograph of George Cecil Horry, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 596, and Photographs, 1931, page 16, has been identified as that of the offender. /<///: V Waimate. —14th June last, that he may be interviewed regarding a breach of the motor-vehicle regulations (failing to keep to left side of traffic-dome when turning from Queen Street to High Street), Fergus O’Sullivan. Dunedin. 23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for being in possession of an unlicensed radio set, John Herbert Wootton, age - twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., hairdresser, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, pimples on face; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-coloured felt hat; slightly stooped.
