On the 17th June a cheque for £5 10s., to which the signature of Sydney Dawson Collins, farmer, Drury, had been forged, was uttered to Marie Meikle, Papakura Hotel. Accused obtained ss. from Lawrence Larsen, labourer, 35 King Street, by falsely representing that he had a contract to supply Woolworths, Auckland, with three thousand King ferns. Napier. loth instant, on warrant for false pretences, John Waldron, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 3 in., art decorator, native of Australia, thin build, pale complexion, fair hair; dressed in grey flannel trousers, darker-grey coat and vest, and felt hat; short quick gait. Accused obtained £lB 14s. from Madgalem Mary Oliver, licensee, Victoria Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. The cheque, together with about £32 cash, was subsequently stolen from a till in the hotel mentioned. Accused was traced to a boardinghouse, but to evade being interviewed by the police he escaped through a bathroom window. He may endeavour to leave this Dominion.

Napier. —2sth. November last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, Larry McAuley, age about thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, left hand injured, and some fingers are believed to be missing, impediment in speech ; dressed in a light-grey suit (or may wear a fawn tweed coat) and fawn felt hat. Accused obtained board, value £9 10s., on credit from Ellen Mitchell, boardinghouse-keeper, Station Street, by fraudulently representing that he was entitled to compensation from the Public Works Department for injuries to his hand, and had already declined an^ffer^of^£k7s. Rieper, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., accountant, native of Tasmania, slight build, fair complexion, curly fair hair going bald, blue-grey eyes, thin features ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey overcoat tinged with red (seldom wears a hat). He was accompanied by his former office assistant, Nora Parker (age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, sallow complexion, brown eyes, full round face), and he may be in possession of a dark-blue five-seater Austin Sedan motor-car, registration No. 77-732. He may endeavour to leave this Dominion. His photograph is filed.

On or about the 18th May last, on warrant for theft of £3 125., the property of Walter Harold Harris, baker, Halcombe, Arthur Edward Martin, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 9 in., ex naval officer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, eagle and snake on chest, tattooed on arms and hands ; dressed in riding-breeches and leggings, brown coat, and felt hat; talks of receiving a large pension from the Navy ; frequents hotels.
