Accused, who advertised in the press for a partner, obtained £3O from Alexander Morrison, 126 Shackleton Road, Mount Eden, by falsely representing that he had an agency at 38 Queen Street, Christchurch, for the “ Invisible Ladd-a-menda Needle.” The device referred to is intended to be used for mending “ ladders ” in silk and he may exhibit it at shows. Accused at Napier borrowed the motor -bicycle, and sold it to a motor-dealer for £5.

Palmerston North. — On the 12th May last some person obtained £25 from Collinson and Cunninghame, drapers, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. The chequeform was one of seven stolen between the Bth and 12th May last from the office of the Machinery Exchange, Rangitikei Street. The numbers of the remaining cheques are : 2 E 021926, 2 E 021928, 2 E 021929, 2 E 021930, 2 E 021867, and 2 E 021866, private numbers in ink are 711, 712, 771, 773, 774, 775, all on Union Bank of Australia.
