Rotorua. 2lst March last, for theft of a cheque for £l2, the property of William George Stembridge, stock - agent, Ngongotaha, Jim Prior, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved; neatly dressed in a dark suit; pleasant expression. Complainant gave a letter (containing the cheque referred to), addressed to the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, Te Puke, to his daughter to post at Ngongotaha Post-office. The letter was not received by the addressee, but by some means the cheque got into the possession of Prior, who procured a man named Johnston to cash it. Prior is therefore to be interviewed regarding his possession of the cheque. No warrant.

Te Kuiti. Bth August last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, Joseph Bcksich, alias Bock, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., bookmaker, native of Dalmatia, stout build, fair complexion, brown hair going bald, grey eyes, heavy jaws ; well dressed in a dark-grey suit; erect gait; quite manner. Accused obtained hoard, -value £2 7s. 6d., from James Kelly, boardinghouse - keeper, by fraud. There are other charges pending. (See Police Gazette, 1930, page 345.)

Taumarunui.Between the 7th and 9th June last, on warrant for theft of Buren wristlet watch (recovered), value £3 155., the property of George Cuthbert Read, school-teacher, Hukapapa (referred to in Police Gazette, 1930, page 486), McDonald, age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., slight build, sallow complexion: dressed in grey trousers, grey sports coat, and grey felt hat. The watch was recovered at the jeweller’s shop of Thomas 0. Tremayne, Jackson Street, Petone, where, on the 19th June last, it was left for repairs by a man who gave his name as McDonald.

Woodville.26th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, William Wren, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes, scar on forehead, on left wrist, and on right knee ; trousers tied around below knees. On the 28th August last he was interviewed by the Taranaki Street (Wellington) police, to whom lie stated that his father had taken the firearm from him, but his father denies having done so.
