Auckland. — Frederick Joseph Smith, failing to maintain his wife, Louisa Maud Smith (nee Yates), 11 York Street, Parnell, (see Police Gazette, 1930, page 32, and Photographs, 1918, page 50) : The Auckland police now desire that when he is arrested on this charge he also be interviewed regarding his bigamous marriage at Auckland on the 16th April, 1916, with the woman above referred to. A statement made by his wife, whom he married at Preston, England, on the 7th November, 1908, is now in possession of the police ; and before he is interviewed an urgent communication” is to be sent to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland, who will forward the file to the interviewing officer. On the 20th September, 1924, at Newton, Sydney, Australia, in the name Francis Joseph Andrews, he also went through the form of marriage with Amelia Benjamin, and he is wanted on warrant there for deserting her (vide New South Wales Police Gazette, 1930, page 62). He is a bricklayer, labourer, and milkingmachine expert.

Auckland. —29th July last, on warrant for forgery, Fred Owen, age about thirty -eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., kitchenman, cook, and labourer, native of New- Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair. Accused forged the signature of E. Hemphill to an order for the supply of three lamps and uttered it to the Farmers’ Trading Co., Hobson Street, receiving three lamps, value £7 7s. There is another similar charge pending. He is usually employed at a Public Works camp.

Thames. —26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Wilson, Harry Gordon WiisGn, alias Snowy Wilson, age thirty -nine, height 5 ft. 7.^-in., bushman and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on nose, on right temple, and on left forefinger; usually dressed in a dark suit and felt hat; talkative, and fond of drink.
