Wellington. —On the 27th ultimo the dwelling of SURTESS JOHN WHITE, engineer, 190 Tasman Street, was broken into and, the following stolen: A gentlemen’s gold hunting keyless Elgin watch, Roman numerals, double case on back, small dent on outer case ; a ladies’ rolled-gold keyless wristlet watch, No. 101769, with expanding bracelet attached; an 18 ct. gold engagement-ring, set with three diamonds in platinum claw setting, cross-over pattern ; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with four pearls in diamond shape; a ladies’ gold ring, set with five opals in claw setting ; and a gold bracelet, square edge, set with large opal in centre, surrounded by sapphires and four , pearls on each side, one sapphire and one pearl missing : total value, £2B 15s. Wellington. —On the 2nd instant the dwelling of CATHERINE ISABELLA EGGERS, 25 Roy Street, was broken into and the following stolen : An 18 ct. gold ring, set with diamond chips, with ruby heart, emerald heart, and gold true-lover’s knot above hearts ; a heavy gold neck-chain with two knots ; a gold pendant, set with aquamarines in circle with whiteenamelled piece in centre attached ; a black skunk fur collar, size about 36 in. by 18 in., one fur button, and open buttonhole, lined with black crepe de chine, small tear in fur where stitching has come apart: total value, £29. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., strong build, fair complexion and hair, round face ; wearing light trousers, mauve or plumcoloured overcoat, and light felt hat. The suspect was seen in the house by complainant’s daughter.

Waiuta. —Between the 30th May last and 3rd ultimo, from a hut, the property of THOMAS MORGAN, miner, a goldmounted greenstone chain with greenstone lock - pendant attached ; value, £5. Pendant only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Daniel Casey, alias Thomas Carey, alias Patrick Ryan, referred to in Police Gazette, 1929, page 700, and Photographs, 1927, page 6, who has been interviewed by the Greymouth police, but no evidence resulted.

Greymouth. 2nd instant, from the Albion Hotel, the property of WILLIAM BURTON, manager, St. James Theatre, Wellington, a gentlemen’s dark khaki serge single-breasted overcoat, two slant pockets on outside, three buttons on front, small patch on left front at bottom and on hem at bottom of left side ; value, £4.
