MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION.

Memorandum.] The following memorandum from the Secretary of the Public Service Superannuation Board is published for general information and strict attention. W. B. Mcllveney, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 26th May, 1930. (P. 30/731.)

1930/7. Public Service Superannuation Office, Wellington, 23rd May, 1930. Memorandum for Permanent Heads, Police Department.

Superannuation : Contributors granted Special Leave of ; Absence without Pay. The Public Service Superannuation Board has decided that where a contributor to the Fund has been granted special leave of absence without pay for a period exceeding three consecutive months, and whose contributions are not paid during such leave the contributor is to be charged interest at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum on the amount of contributions outstanding from month to month, such interest to be compounded half-yearly. Departments are required to notify this office by memorandum in all cases where a contributor proceeds on special leave of absence, the memorandum to be accompanied by a statement from the contributor as to whether he intends to pay his contributions monthly during his absence or a request that the matter be left in abeyance until his return to duty. On the officer’s return to duty this office must be advised of the date of return.

This decision applies to all contributors who are now on special leave of absence or who have been on special leave of absence and who have not discharged the amount of arrears of contributions.

The amount to be deducted from salary as interest on arrears of contributions will be advised to Departments by this office. William M. Wright. Secretary, Public Service Superannuation Board.
