Queen’s Wharf (Auckland). —13th ultimo, on warrant for being absent from the s.s. “ King Gruffydd ” without leave, Samuel OEstsin, age about eighteen, height 5 ft. 9 in., galley-boy, native of Palestine, medium build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved.

Auckland. —24th ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act. 1920), Frank Amoore, alias Eric Chalmers or Charmers, age forty-eight, height 6 ft., traveller and actor, native of Australia, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair turning grey, grey eyes. Hollis, in the care of the Education Department, Iris Mark Haggard, age thirty height 5 ft. 54 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair going bald, blue eyes, mole on right cheek. Auckland. 27th June last, on warrant 'for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and two children, Clement Edward Robinson, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes (right eye partially blind), scar on right wrist; slightly deaf. Arrears to 27th June last, £IOO 10s. (See Police Gazette, 1928, page 671.)

Thames. —16th May last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for six months in default of paying £lO4 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Daisy Clarke, Matata, is the mother, Martin Hogan, age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., bushman, medium build, fresh complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes ; erect gait. He is at present at the Solomon Islands.,

Hamilton. 2lst June last, on warrant for false pretences, Neill Johnston, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, medium build, fair complexion and hair ; wearing dark overcoat and -grey hat; stooped. Accused obtained on a hire-purchase agreement, paying £1 deposit, a His Master’s Voice gramophone, value £9 Bs., from Richard Harvey, manager, Bristol Piano Co., by falsely representing that he was employed as a porter at the Waikato Hospital.

Hamilton. On or about the 21st May last, on warrant for false pretences, George Alexander Robert Irving, age twentynine, height 5 ft. 4 in., bricklayer and labourer, native of New Zealand, good build, ruddy complexion, ginger hair, blue eyes, scar behind right ear, on left forefinger, and on abdomen. Accused obtained a Harley Davidson motor - cycle, value £lB, from Francis Herbert Ibbotson, motor - cycle dealer, by falsely representing that a Ford motor-car which he gave complainant in payment for the motor-cycle was his own property, whereas he held it under a hire-purchase agreement from the Ford Sales and Service, Ltd., Wellington, £l3 still being owing on it. Tauranga. — On or about the 22nd May last, on warrant for false pretences, H. Robinson, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fresh complexion ; dressed in a grey suit with double-breasted coat and cap ; erect gait ; neatly dressed ; fluent’ speech. Accused obtained £8 from Cecil Frederick Washer, garage -proprietor, Brown Street, by means of two valueless cheques for £5 and £3 on the Bank of Australasia, Te Puke.

Whakatane. 29th ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Pam Roia, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm labourer, Maori, slight build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, birthmark on left side of mouth, scar on left wrist. Wanganui. Victor James Jameson, default of fine and costs : It has been ascertained by the Wanganui police that he is known as Victor James, and has a six-cylinder Buick motor-car. Nelson. —15th May last, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Alexander McLennan, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, native of Scotland, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, scar on nose ; cross, “In Memory of my Brother,” “ Dora,” &c., on left forearm ; cross, “In Memory of my Mother,” &c., on right forearm. Tap a nut. —Bth May last, on warrant for false pretences, Leonard Ernest Smith, age about twenty height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair; dressed in a grey suit, tan shoes, and felt hat ; smart appearance. Accused obtained £2O from Maxwell Harland Walker, garage-proprietor, Heriot, by falsely representing that a motor-car which he sold to complainant, was his own property, whereas be held it under a hire-purchase agreement from Blackwell Motors, Ltd., Christchurch, £62 16s. still being owing on it.
