Auckland. 29th or 30th October last, the property of ALEXANDER CHARTERS BRADLEY, Albert Street, a hag (recovered) ; a gentlemen’s Panama hat; two fuji silk shirts ; a shaving outfit; a pair of spurs ; a gold hunting Waltham watch, black hands, Roman numerals ; and a 9 ct. gold sovereign-case : total value, £2O. Identifiable.
Auckland.— On the 24th or 25th ultimo the dwelling of BRIAN HISLOP KINGSTON, 49 Victoria Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : An 18 ct. gold ring with three diamonds in claw setting ; a ring with five graduated diamonds in claw setting, flaw in centre stone ; and a pair of Bausch field-glasses with black leather covering, old leather strap attached: total value, £ll2. Identifiable.
Auckland. —29th October last, from the Dixieland Cabaret, the property of BERTRAM NOAKES, 15 Silver Road, Epsom, a ladies’ gold wristlet watch, gold dial, black hands, “ N.R.M.” scratched on back case, black ribbon wristlet attached ; value, £B. Identifiable.
Auckland. 2nd instant, from a motor-truck at 776 Dominion Road, the property of RICHARD HERBERT THURLOW, a Remy generator, a distributor, .and resistance coils for a Chevrolet motor-truck ; value, £ls. Not identifiable.
P aero a.— September last, between Paeroa and Wharepoa, the property of W. G. H. WEADON, The Vicarage, an aluminium-painted motor-car rim with Firestone balloon tire, size 29 x 4.40 attached; value, £3 10s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., Maori, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; dressed in a dark-brown suit, no hat.
New Plymouth..- On the 12th or 13th November last the shop of WILLIAM HENRY BROOME, Devon Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A grey rough tweed suit, size 4, “ Kaiapoi, N.Z.,” on tag ; a double-breasted grey sports coat with diamond check, size 4, “ Roslyn, N.Z.,” on tag, black and white check lining in sleeves ; a pair of fawn or grey , sports trousers, size 4, may have “ Roslyn, N.Z.,” on tag ; a red and white check shirt, size 4 ; and a shirt with brown and blue stripes, size 5, each with “ Palatine, W. H. Broome,” on tag; and several socles, &c. : total value, £8 13s. sd. Identification doubtful.
New Plymouth.' the 12th September last the shop of the EGMONT BOOT AND SHOE CO., Courtenay Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s dark tan shoe for right foot, size 7, lace-up, with crepe rubber sole ; a ladies’ one-strap black glace shoe, size 4, for right foot; a ladies’ black patent-leather shoe for right foot, size 4, grey patent-leather trimming and strap, flat wooden heel; a ladies’ one-strap patent-leather shoe, size 4, for right foot, grey leather inset, wooden heel covered with grey kid ; a ladies’ one-bar patent-leather shoe, size 4, for left foot, red heel and inset; a ladies’ one-bar dark-tan brogue shoe, crepe rubber sole, buckle fastening ; a child’s patent-leather shoe, size 13, for left foot, with pink insets ; a boy’s lace-up boot for right foot, size 12 ; a child’s patent-leather one-bar shoe, size .12, for right foot; a ladies’ one-bar patent-leather shoe, size 4, for right foot, grey patent-leather covered heels and trimmings; and a gentlemen’s dark-tan shoe, size 7, for right foot, imitation crocodile leather insets — leather-soled hoots and shoes stamped “ Invincible ”on soles : total value, £5 14s. Napiek. —7th or Bth March last, from the Criterion Hotel, the property of HERBERT BROADBENT HANSON, 307 Karaka Bay Road, Wellington, a gentlemen’s fawn whipcordcloth overcoat, two outside and two inside pockets, vent in back, “ Rice, Blackpool,” on tag ; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to F. K. Paton, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair; may have large scar on one side of face ; Jewish appearance. He may be identical with Goodwin, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 213.
Hastings. —On or about the 16th October last, from the dwelling of JANE MoCLURE GILMOUR, Havelock North, a gold and enamel Egyptian idol brooch ; a ladies’ gold keyless Swiss watch, No. 38552, “ J.M.G.” in monogram on back, in a brown Morocco leather case ; a white metal travellingclock in a black Morocco leather case, luminous dial, W. Littlejohn Wellington” on dial; a grey suede leather handbag with black design stamped thereon, silver clasp, grey silk lining ; and a light-fawn silk purse, flower design on lining, tortoiseshell clasp : total value, £27. Identifiable.
- Wanganui. Between the 10th and 12th ultimo the premises of BERNARD ROY DOBBS, 176 Victoria Avenue, were broken into and a postal-note (recovered), two two-cell electric torches, and £2 10s. in money stolen therefrom ; total value, £3 12s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., fair complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a dark suit and felt hat.
Wellington. 22nd September • last, the property of SAMUEL HOWE, Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, a gentlemen’s open-face keyless silver Elgin watch, large size ; a watchchain, greenstone links about 1 in. in length connected by gold links, greenstone heart attached; and a ladies’ small gold watch, floral cases, no hands ; total value, £l4. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about fifty, height about 6 ft., strong build, fair complexion, cast in one eye ; dressed in a brown suit and felt hat.
Wellington. —On or about the 6th August last, from 3 Stepney Place, the property of RUTH DALTON, a -32 five-chambered Harrington and Richardson revolver, No. 213998 ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Wellington. or 14th October last, from the dwelling of JOHN QUINN, 26 Barnard Street, a gentlemen’s silver hunting Elgin watch, supposed number 4528822, engineturned cases, front. case missing, Roman numerals ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Wellington. 9th November last, from Mandel’s Buildings, Willis Street, the property of WILLIAM CAHILL, 12 Spiers Street, a leather kitbag ; a blue dressing-gown ; a suit of silk pyjamas, may have “ Ilockridge King, William Street, Adelaide,” on tag; a Bengal razor; and a shaving-brush, &c.: total value, £6 10s. Identifiable.
Christchurch. WILLIAM JOHN WELLS’ bicycle stolen : The correct number of the stolen bicycle is 8444. (See Police Gazette, 1928, page 552.)
Dunedin. On the 4th or sth instant the premises of HALLENSTEIN BROS., Dowling Street, were broken into and the following stolen : Five pairs gentlemen’s glace-kid boots, sizes 6,8, and 9, “ B.” branded inside uppers, “H. 8.” on tag ; two pairs gentlemen’s glace-kid boots, size 71, branded “H. 8.” on soles and “D. 258 ” inside uppers ; a pair of gentlemen’s glace-kid boots, size 8, branded “ 8-432 ' ’ inside uppers; a pair of ladies’ stone-colour kid one-bar shoes, size 5, low heels, branded “ H. 8.” on soles and inside ; a pair of ladies’ one-bar black patent-leather Bostock shoes, size 5, low heels, “Made expressly for Hallenstein Bros.” branded on inner sole; and a gentlemen’s fawny-brown worsted sac suit, size 4, “H. 8.” on tag : total value, £22 9s. Identifiable.
Dunedin. —26th November last, from the dwelling of BERTHA WHITE, 11 Jones Street, a navy-blue crepe de Chine dress with fawn front, no sleeves ; a lemon-colour Organdy frock, short sleeves, flowers round neck and bottom ; a lemon silk and a fuji silk underdress ; two fuji silk underskirts with floral work thereon ; a green fuji silk bed-jacket, wide sleeves, black bow on front; six white linen tray-cloths with coloured borders ; six linen d’oyleys with fancy work in centre and round edges ; a mauve and white bath-mat; two pairs white pillow-shams, one pair with lace on edges ; six small coloured aprons (two rubber); and a pair of brown mocassin slippers with white and blue beads stitched thereon, brown fur round tops, &c. : total value, £lB.
