Kaikohe. —On the 30th ultimo the dwelling of HIRA ROGERS, Otaua, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom: £lO 10s. in money; a cheque for £lO 165., No. 207481, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikohe, by E. P. Mclntyre in favour of Henry Tane ; a cheque for £7 165., No. 207482, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikohe, by E. P. Mclntyre in favour of Pane Bunny; a cheque for £ls 6s. 2d., No. 219466, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikohe, by Herbert Renwick in favour of Burich ; a cheque for 155., No. 219464, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikohe, by H. Renwick in favour of Tom Ruwhiu ; a cheque for £2, No. A 004429, drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, Kaikohe, by E. W. Kohn in favour of Mohi Epere ; a cheque for £1 18s., No. N 351042, drawn on
the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by L. H. Smith in favour of Hira Rogers ; a cheque for £2 10s. 6d., No. N 351040, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by L. H. Smith in favour of Hira Rogers ; and four cheques on the Bank of New South Wales, Rawene, drawn by the Hokianga Dairy Factory as follows(1) for £5 12s. 7d., No. 1692, in favour of R. H. Kauere ; (2) for 18s. Bd., No. .1469, in favour of Rogers and Hiku ; (3) for £4 os. 6d., No. 1818, in favour of William Warren ; and (4) for 13s. 10d., No. 1726, in favour of Rogers and Hiku. Cheques identifiable.
Newton. —lsth ultimo, from Newton Road, the property of NORMAN FELTON, 1 Bond Street, Grey Lynn, a gentlemen’s Monarch Special bicycle, No. B.J. 4722, blackenamelled with red lines, downturned handles, Dunlop rubber saddle, Dunlop tires ; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.
Auckland. — ultimo, from Victoria Street, the property of CLIVE ACKLAND FRATER, 47 Mountain View Road, a gentlemen’s fixed-wheel Leader bicycle, No. H 177, black-enamelled with red lines, Hercules frame; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —13th July last, from the Central Wharf, the property of EDWARD ATEILL ALLDRED, 21 Lower Queen Street, Onehunga, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Monarch Special bicycle, upturned handles, rubber pedals, Monarch Special tires ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Auckland. 22nd ultimo, from a railway carriage at the Railway-station, the property of WINIFRED BUCKLEY, 14 Makomako Street, Frankton Junction, a ladies’ grey leather sunshine handbag, broken handles, “ Winifred Buckley ” written inside ; £8 in money ; a Post Office Savingsbank book issued at Hamilton in name of complainant; and sundry papers : total value, £8 10s. Identifiable except money.
Auckland. —On the 29th ultimo the dwelling of ANNIE STEERS, 24 Dell Avenue, Remuera, was broken into, and £52 in money (including a Bank of New 7 Zealand £2O note and a £lO note) stolen therefrom. Not identifiable.
Auckland. 26th ultimo, from the office of the MURRAY BOOT AND SHOE CO., 34 Cook Street, a black-japanned steel cash-box, about 12 in. by 8 in. ; a cheque for £24 on the Bank of New Zealand, Tokomaru Bay, signed S. McKee ; 2s. 7d. in money; and receipts, &c. Identifiable except money.
Auckland. —On the 28th or 29th ultimo the shop of LESLIE GORDON HILL, 13 Gittos Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A gentlemen’s darkgrey Kaiapoi overcoat, double texture, half-lined with blue striped lining ; a small white folding-mirror ; £1 in money ; and a quantity of cigarettes : total value, £7 Is. 6d. Overcoat identifiable.
Auckland. — On the 6th or 7th ultimo the shop of CHARLES ALFRED OSBORNE, Princes Street, Onehunga, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A cheque for £l, No. 2403, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Onehunga, by T. Sharp in favour of C. A. Osborne ; and £29 in money. Cheque identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leslie Duff, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey felt hat. He is also suspected of breaking into the same premises on the 3rd instant in company with William Matthew', who was arrested. He may be identical with Leslie Duff, referred to in Police Gazette, 1927, page 660.
Waihi. On or about the 13th August last, the property of ANDREW LOVE, Moresby Avenue, a half-bred Belton setter dog, white and blue spots over body and black spots on ears, long curly hair on back, bushy tail, wearing a Waihi Borough Council 1928 collar (No. 79) ; value, £2O. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to William Richard Bryant, alias James Reginald O’Brien, alias Lurnh, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 669, and Photographs, 1925, page 12. He has been interviewed by the Auckland police, but no evidence resulted.
Waihi.—On or about the Ist August last, from a paddock at Waikino, the property of ALFRED BURNETT NICKISSON, Waihi Plain's, a brown mare, about 15 hands, eight years old, soft lump under jaw, scar on front leg, long mane and tail, hack appearance ; value, £ls. Identifiable.
Hamilton. — 1923, from Wellesley House, Auckland, the property of FRANK LAWSON SUTTON, Warren Street, Oamaru, a -22 seven-chambered Young American revolver, No. 78805, H. and R. Arms Co. makers; value, £1 ss. Identifiable.
Hamilton. 6th ultimo, from a right-of-way off Somerset Street, the property of GEORGE HERBERT LLOYD, 104 Norton Road, a gentlemen’s red-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, upturned handles, green grips, Michelin tires, Onehunga Cycle Works transfer ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Whakatane. — On or about the 4th December, 1927, from the farm of FRANK CYRIL YEOMAN, Taneatua, an aged half-draught bay mare, about fifteen hands, lump on near hind fetlock ; and a two-year-old chestnut draught gelding, about sixteen hands, white feet, white streak on face, branded “U. 1.1.” ; total value, £55. Identifiable.
Walroa.— On the night of the 9th July last the Terapatiki Post-office was broken into, and two registered letters, the property of THE NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), stolen therefrom—(l) Addressed to Mrs. Smith, Cornwall, England, containing a £5 Bank of New Zealand note; and (2) addressed Flax Development, Auckland, containing a£l note. Money not identifiable.
Napier.— 24th August last, from Hastings or Market Streets, the property of HENRY CAMPBELL, Hastings Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, straight handles, black grips, rubber pedals, J. Hickey and Co., makers ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. — 11th ultimo, from a garage in Rangitikei Street, the property of EVELYN SEELEY, a gentlemen’s silver wristlet watch, black figures with red 12, may have “ E.S. ” engraved on back case; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. —4th August last, from the dwelling of RITA JUDD, Mulgrave Street, a ladies’ open-face keyless gold wristlet watch, Swiss make, white star on dial, “ R.J.” engraved inside back case ; value, £lO 15s. Identifiable.
Levin. 2lst ultimo, from Oxford Street, the property of THE NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), a gentlemen’s B.S.A. bicycle, No. 1160, black-enamelled with red forks, black handles, Dunlop Railroad tires ; value, £7. Identifiable.
Wellington.— On the 9th August last the dwelling of LOUISA ELLEN WILSON, 9 Sutherland Crescent, was broken into and a jam-tin with about £2 10s. in threepennypieces stolen therefrom. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about seventeen, height about 5 ft., slight build, pale complexion, dark hair; wearing dark trousers and dirty brown coat.
Wellington. Between the 16th August and the 28th ultimo, from the premises of KIRKCALDIE AND STAINS, Lambton Quay, a large-size musquash fur coat, brown satin lining, long wide roll collar, turned-up cuffs, may have “ Kirkcaldie and Stains ” and No. 754/13 ”on tag ; value, £7O. Identification doubtful.
Murchison.— Between the 24th May last and the 28th June, from the garage of Spiers and Son, the property of JOSIAH HARCOURT BUTTRESS, Shakespeare Road, Nelson, a tent, size 18 ft. by 10 ft. ; a tent, size 10 ft. by 12 ft. ; three tent-flys, size 14 ft. by 14 ft. ; an axe-handle ; a handsaw with broken handle ; and a sketch plan of subdivision at Lake Rotoiti: total value, £ls. Identifiable.
Christchurch. — 12th July last, from the Railway-station, the property of JOHN FRANCIS McMAHON, 399 Montreal Street, a gentlemen’s blue-enamelled fixed-wheel bicycle, No. 755, outrigger handles, Michelin tire on front wheel, John Bull tire on back wheel; value, £5. Identifiable.
Christchurch. 2lst July last, from the yard of the Caledonian Hotel, St. Albans, the property of HENRY WALTER FISHER, 19 Lindsay Street, a gentlemen’s black - enamelled free-wheel Armstrong bicycle, No. 25788/2423, upturned handles, Butler transfer ; value, £7. Identifiable.

Christchurch. — 30th August last, from Hereford Street, the property of ERIC WILLIAM PEARCE, 342 Cashel Street, a gentlemen’s -enamelled Jones bicycle, No. 660, Barnet-Glass tires ; value, £6. Identifiable.
Christchurch. — On the 9th instant the dwelling of ALICE MARY WILLIAMS, 73 Cranford Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A ladies’ gold ring set with four rubies and four diamonds ; a gold necklet with gold book-shape locket attached set with a diamond in centre ; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold ring, engraved “ A.W.” ; a gold cross with seven rubies; a greenstone heart pendant with gold heart in centre ; a set of 18 ct. gold shield-pattern sleevelinks with “ A.W.” on shield ; a gentlemen’s gold Rotherhams keyless hunting-watch with “ T.W.” on outside case ; a 15 ct. gold Bernstein chain with Jubilee half-sovereign attached ; a pair of gentlemen’s tan shoes, size 6 ; a Jubilee sovereign; three Jubilee half-sovereigns ; a Kruger sovereign ; and seven bottles of scent, &c. : total value, 17s. Identifiable.
Christchurch. — 11th ultimo, from Sockburn, the property of GEORGE BALLINTON GROSE, 23 Hamilton Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Earl bicycle, No. 3344) Michelin tires ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —On the 27th or 28th June last the shop of HAMMOND AND TURNER, 132 Oxford Terrace, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A Harrington and Richardson -410 “ Handy Gun ” shotgun, breech loading, barrel 12| in. in length, pistol grip, “ H. and R. ” stamped on breech ; and a number of -410 cartridges with cardboard shells : value, £3. Gun identifiable.
Christchurch. Between the 6th and Bth instant the premises of THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Madras and Lichfield Streets, were broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Three 28 in. by 3 in. Dunlop motor-tires ; six 28 in. by 3 in. Dunlop motor-tubes ; thirteen spoon tirelevers ; twenty-four boxes Vulcafix patches ; seventy-two tins of cycle-patches, five in each tin ; a leather attache-case ; a square aluminium clock with “ Typistes ” marked on back ; Canberra florin, dated 1927 ; a cheque-book on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Christchurch, supposed numbered A 54.4657-79 ; and a quantity of motor-outfits, tire-gauges, &c. : total value, £2O 10s. Cheque-book and clock identifiable.
Waimate. Between the 6th and 9th instant, from the Waimate Hotel, the property of SHEILA NEWELL, waitress, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold half-hoop ring set with five diamonds in claw setting; value, £25. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to (1) Stafford, age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair ; shabbily dressed in a dark tweed suit and brown felt hat : and (2) Mrs. Stafford, age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft., stout build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, blue or grey eyes ; wearing a navy-blue costume and brown fur. The complainant left the ring in the bathroom, which was used immediately afterwards by the suspects. They left Waimate in an A.J.S. motor with torpedo-shape ***** 2^/Af
oAmaru the 6th or 7th instant the shop of JACK MUNTON HENDY, Thames Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A fawn crepe de Chine frock with triangle-shape green stripes across front, pleated skirt; a ladies’ light-brown repp coat; a Rayon silk frock, small belt, two pockets, three pleats in skirt; a pair of Berli brassiers; two pairs gentlemen’s Cambridge pyjama suits with broad fancy stripes ; about eight gentlemen’s and boys’ white Cambridge canoe shirts ; about twenty pairs gentlemen’s fancy silk socks ; about live dozen ties ; an imitationleather suit-case; a fibre suit-case; a gentlemen’s fawn gabardine overcoat, Raglan sleeves ; a boys’ orange-and-blue pullover ; several ladies’ velour overcoats with fur collars ; and several shirts, &c. : total value, £sl 14s.
