Auckland .—3oth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, H. Rollinson, age about thirty-five, height 6 ft., strong build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a darkgrey suit. Accused obtained £5 Os. Id. from Robert Chesney, proprietor, Cargen Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for £22 on the National Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch. He may be in possession of cheques on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland. Accused, who in company with H. or K. Vincent, referred to in following paragraph, stayed from the 27th to the 29th ultimo at the Cargen Hotel, tendered a valueless cheque for £22 in payment 'for their board, railway tickets, and sleeping-berths to Wellington, receiving £5 Os. Id. change.p

Auckland. 3oth ultimo, for false pretences, H. or K. Vincent, age forty -five, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a blue serge suit; fond of drink. He stayed at the Cargen Hotel with H. Rollinson, referred to in preceding paragraph, and he is to be interviewed regarding the offence committed by Rollinson, as he is suspected, of being a party to it. No warrant.

Auckland. — Ist instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Martha Annie Taylor, Point Chevalier, and child, Arthur Taylor, age fifty -two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, slight build, fresh complexion, black hair turning grey, blue eyes, prominent nose, clean-shaved. Gisborne. — ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Prison for thirty days in default of paying £5 15s. fine and costs for assault, Robert Francis John O’Kane, alias Francis John O’Kane, age forty -five, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes ; dressed in a grey tweed suit and cap ; holds head forward when walking ; quiet manner. Hawera. 3lst August last, on warrant for theft of £4O, the property of Newton King, Ltd., merchants, Harold William John James, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., cashier, native of New Zealand, good build, pale complexion, long fair hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a blue suit with double-breasted coat and grey felt hat, and wears a wristlet watch and a gold signet-ring. Accused was employed by the above-mentioned firm, and there are other charges pending. He is accompanied by his wife. .A td '7//.

Wanganui.— James Lambert, alias Alexander King, unlawfully using a motor-car. The car has been recovered by the Marton police. (See Police Gazette, 1928, page 654.)

Feilding. —2nd instant, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for five days in default of paying £2 Bs. fine and costs for using a motor-vehicle without numberplates, Robert Martin Fennell, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair. going bald, blue eyes large nose, long features, round shoulders, squeaky voice.
