His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Inspector Joseph Charles Willis to be a Superintendent; Sub-Inspector James Alexander Mathew, and Sub-Inspector Peter Harvey to be Inspectors ; and Senior Sergeant James Fitzpatrick, Senior Sergeant Philip John McCarthy, and Senior Sergeant John Lander to be Sub-Inspectors of the New Zealand Police Force, the appointment in each case to take effect as from the Ist January. 1928. I take this opportunity and medium of addressing you collectively to express my appreciation and very high commendation of the courteous and effective service and assistance rendered by you during the past year. I do this with sentiments, not only of gratitude but pride, for the personal association of such officers, non-commissioned officers -and men, and the realization that the people of the Dominion also appreciate your watchful, efficient, and tireless protection. Alterations in Districts. The following stations arc detached from the Hamilton District and added to the Auckland Head District as from Ist January, 1928 : Huntly, Thames, Thames South, Paeroa, Wailii, Coromandel, Wliitianga, and Kerepehi. Murchison station is detached from the Greymouth District, and added to the Wellington District as from the same date.
