Auckland. —l9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Edward Horace McLean, age thirty-two, height about 6 ft.., traveller, native of Australia, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, dimple in chin, long features, right little toe missing, scar on right ankle ; dressed in a grey suit with doublebreasted coat, grey overcoat, and felt hat. Accused, who arrived from Australia on the 19th July last, stayed at the Central Hotel to the 19th ultimo, on which date he obtained £4 15s. lOd. from Winifred Magdalene Turner, a clerk employed in the hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for £3O drawn on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Auckland. He is in possession of a cheque-book on the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Adelaide, and asserts that he is the New Zealand representative, of Bond’s Hosiery, Melbourne, There are other charges pending. . .
Auckland. — McColm, default of fine and costs : It has been ascertained by the Westport police that he left Westport on the 26th July last as a fireman on the s.s. “ Cheniston.” (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 570.)

Auckland. —13th July last, on warrant for forgery, F. McDonald, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair; dressed in a dark suit. Accused forged the signature B. Davis to a cheque for £l2 12s. on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Auckland, and induced William Edgar Ward, solicitor, to cash it. The photograph of Frederick John McDonald, referred to in Police Gazette, 1924, page 377, and Photographs, page 54, has been identified as that of the man who uttered the cheque.

Auckland. —26th July last, for indecent exposure, Man (name unknown), height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build. About 10 p.m., in Domett Avenue, accused indecently exposed himself within the view of Dorothy Ward, domestic. No warrant.
• Auckland. —22nd July last, for theft of an overcoat (recovered), a large key, two handkerchiefs, a pipe, and' a kangaroo-skin tobacco-pouch, total value £5 155., the property of Thomas Francis Merron, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey felt hat. The articles were stolen from Fernleigh Private Hotel, Symonds Street, and the coat was subsequently recovered at a pawnshop, where it had been pledged by a man of the description given. No warrant.
Auckland. —16th ultimo, for assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, brown hair, clean-shaved, short gait; dressed in a blue serge suit and light-coloured felt hat; dirty appearance. About 10.15 p.m. in Pine Street, accused assaulted Eileen O’Neill, domestic. Suspicion is attached to John Dyer, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 306, and Photographs, page 58, who has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. No warrant.
Te Aeoha. 26th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, William Alfred Roycroft, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7-i- in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh dark complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, “ W.R.” on right forearm, scar near right eye and on right forefinger, tip of left forefinger missing. Accused engaged Frederick James Charles Otto, taxi-driver, to take him to the home of Mr. Barker, Waharoa, -whom he said was his brother. On arrival at Waharoa eluded Uhe driver and disappeared without paying the fhre, £2. There is another charge pending. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 545, and Photographs, 1925, page 69.)
Ngaeuawatiia. —llth June last, on warrant for false pretences, James Grogan, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 84 in., carpenter and canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on nose and above right eye ; dressed in a dark suit and soft felt hat. Accused, who was discharged from his employment with the Dominion Art Co., Auckland, obtained £1 from Roko Tomich, farm hand, Taupiri, by falsely representing himself to be still employed by that firm, and would forward the photograph given him by complainant for enlargement. He is in possession of a green Overland motor-car, No. 69-341. Arrears to 11th July last, £2O os. 6d.

Napier. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Edith Selina Cook, Greenmeadows, and two children, Arthur Cook, age forty, height 5 ft. 104 in., showman and labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair going bald, blue eyes ; scar on back of neck and on back of left hand ; tombstone on right forearm : talkative. He is supposed to. be travelling about with sideshows (shooting-gallery, &c.), and may have a Ford motorcar, No. 25-060. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s Office, Napier.
Napier. 26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his four children in a receiving home, Frank Herbert Crouch, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and bottle-gatherer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, prominent nose, clean-shaved. Accused obtained £SO on loan from the South Pacific Mortgage and Deposit Co., Ltd., 69a Manners Street, by falsely representing that a certain piano and furniture were his own property. Dunedin. 6th June last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for six months in default of paying £25 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Robert Easley Hooker, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair going bald, hazel eyes, scar on forehead. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 541.)
Dunedin. — llth June last, on warrant for forgery John Bull, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in., salesman, native of England, slight build, fair complexion and hair; dressed in a grey or navy-blue suit, fawn overcoat, and lightgrey felt hat; well spoken. Accused, who was employed by John McLennan, dealer, 153 King Edward Street, South Dunedin, forged the name C. Fisher to a hire-purchase agreement regarding the sale of a gramophone, and secured commission. He was a member of the Dunedin Tramway Band, played in orchestras, and has a tenor horn in his possession. He may be identical with F. Young, referred to in Police Gazette, 1926, page 493.
