PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. — ultimo, for unlawfully converting to his own use a motor-car (recovered), value £330, the property of Sydney James Hayden, Man (name unknown), age twentysix, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build ; dressed in a dark suit, dark tweed overcoat, grey woollen socks, and grey felt hat. The car was taken from Wyndham Street, and it was subsequently recovered in Kelmana Avenue. No warrant.

Auckland. — 15th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Audrey Walshaw Stockman, 41 Forbes Street, Onehunga, and child, Trevor Morris Melville Stockman, age twenty-two, height 6 ft. 3 in., « drainlayer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, portion of one ring-finger missing. Auckland. —13th instant, for theft of a gentlemen’s watch, albert, and medal (recovered), and 12s. cash, the property of Tony Bakalich, cook, 91 Hobson Street, Thomas Albion, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., bootmaker, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair ; dressed in a -grey suit. The property was stolen from complainant’s room, and the recovered articles were found at a pawnshop, having been pledged by a man of the description given. He may be identical with George William Kinnaird, alias Conn, alias Collins, alias Webb, referred to in Police Gazette, 1927, page 572, and Photographs, 1913, page 9. No warrant. C -ee- l)h/^7

Hamilton. —18th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £ll ss. 6d. balance of costs for helpless drunkenness, Joseph Clarkson, alias Clapham, alias Nelson, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and tailor, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, two scars on abdomen, scar on right thumb. Gisborne. —sth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Minetta Mary Devine, Mangapapa, and three children, John Francis Devine, age thirty-seven, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin wiry build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes.

Taumarunui. —18th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Dorothy May Le Prou, domestic, Kakahi, is the mother, Cecil Hutcheson, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., cleaner, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, round shoulders ; dressed in a blue suit and dark felt hat; slovenly appearance. &aa£/2/p& 3 y

Taihape. —l9th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Amelia Hodkinson, Harry Hodkjnson, alias Hodgkinson, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and carter, native of England, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Arrears to 19th instant, £95 16&. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 95.) gjvneJ&L Llp/ V Hastings. —2oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for two months in default of paying £8 15s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Waiter Albert Dale, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a blue serge suit. He was sent to Rotoroa Inebriates’ Institution for one year on the 21st ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 580.)

Wanganui. —24th May last, for the theft of a ladies’ gold ring (recovered), value £l2 125., the property of Irene Powell, Puketaha, H. Werthley (name probably fictitious), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, medium build, fresh complexion, slightly protruding upper lip ; dressed in a darkgrey suit and light-coloured cap. The ring was stolen from the bath-room in Lloma House, Bell Street, and on the Ist ultimo it was sold to a second-hand dealer by a man of the description given. No warrant.

Greytown. —sth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £27 ss. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his daughter, Jean Renwick, Clifford Renwick, age forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair freckled complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes, freckled hands ; usually dressed in a dark suit. Greytown. 23rd June last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for drunkenness, William Arthur Nicholls, age -nine, height 5 ft. 7-|- in., canvasser, native of England, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, large grey eyes, two scars on throat, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and cap ; quiet manner. Greytown. 23rd June last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Harry Batho, age fiftyfour, height 5 ft. 61 in., hawker and cutler, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, bushy brown moustache, left leg lame. Wellington. — Mac Kinder, failing to maintain : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that he was paid off the s.s. “ Maheno ” at Sydney (Australia), on the 16th June last. He may return to this Dominion. (See Police Gazette, 1927, paj*e 499.)

Christchurch. —27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for five days in default of paying £1 fine and costs for a breach of the Motor-vehicles Act, James Carnegie, age nineteen, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue or grey suit, grey hat, and brown shoes. pcuJcL

Timaru. —On or about the 17th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining credit to the amount of £5 15s. from William Hutchison, boardinghouse-keeper, Balmoral Private Hotel, by fraud, J. Tapp, alias E. T. Tapp, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 8J in., dealer, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, prominent nose, sharp features, long neck; usually dressed in a dark-brown suit, tan boots, and felt hat. Accused falsely represented to complainant that he was in the employ of Garnham and Taylor, metalWellington. are other charges pending. Dunedin. l2th instant' for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Bruce Imrie, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair frizzy hair, blue eyes ; heart, arrow, and Mother on left forearm; ring on left middle finger.
