PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —Between 10 and 11 p.m. on the 13th January last, some person or persons unlawfully removed from Lower Symonds Street a motor-car, value £SOO, the property of lAN BANNATYNE STEWART, 1 Warrington Road, Remuera. The car was subsequently found in Orakei Road having been destroyed by fire. Any information regarding the offence is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland,

Auckland. —20th December last, for forgery, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair. Accused forged the signature of Albert Bernard Carley, farmer, Waerenga (who supplies cream to Amburys, Limited, milk-vendors, Newton), to a telegram, which he put in at Papatoetoe Postoffice, addressed to Ambury Limited, Auckland, and which read as follows : “ If cheque not already sent post to Otahuhu.” A cheque for £36 Is. sd. was forwarded to Otahuhu Postoffice, and on the 22nd December this cheque was tendered by the above-described man to Thomas Martin Sanders, salesman for Fowlds Limited, outfitters, Queen Street, in payment of £3 11s. for a grey sports coat and trousers, branded “Cambridge Make.” He received £32 10s. sd. in cash. No warrant.

Hamilton. 2sth ultimo, on warrant for discharging a firearm with intent to intimidate, John George Henry Blane, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., painter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, ginger hair, blue eyes, limps ; right foot artificial. Accused was bailed to appear at the Supreme Court, Hamilton, on the 25th ultimo, and failed to comply with the conditions of his recognizance. Napier. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, William George Hart, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 4 in., hotel porter, native of Australia, strong build, pale complexion, wavy dark hair, scar on right side, tattooed on arms and chest; dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey soft felt hat, and has a brown suit-case with “ W.G.H.” on it; rolling gait; pleasant appearance. Accused forged the signature of “ J. R. Russell ” to a cheque for £lO on the Bank of New South Wales, Napier, and uttered it to James Allen Phillips, tobacconist, in payment of an account for 155., receiving £9 ss. cash.

Masterton. — 15th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two days in default of paying £1 2s. fine and costs for leaving a motor-car without lights, Arthur Lyall Band, age about, thirty height 6 ft., motor-salesman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in a light-grey suit and cap ; smart appearance. He left for Sydney, Australia, by the s.s. “ Maunganui ” on the 18th January last.

Wellington.—-6th January last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 fine and costs for a breach of the city by-laws, Andrew M. Cleland, traveller (no description available). Wellington. —lsth ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Remuera,” Charles Sequin, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 74 in., native of England, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, .ship, horse-shoe, bird, and clasped hands on left arm, .Indian and flags. right arm. (£5 19s. and £22 135.) fine and costs for (1) unlawfully obtaining a license to drive a motorcar, and (2) being drunk in charge of a motor-car, Henry John Mercer, alias Eric John Mercer, alias Riddiford, alias Le Bain, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., motor mechanic, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, red dot under right eye, two scars on back of left wrist. Accused obtained £4 ss. 6d. from Robert Methven, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless cheque for £4 6s. on the Bank of New Zealand, Greymouth, signed “ J. A. Morse.” The photograph of Douglas Charles Hopewell, alias Snwaod, referred to in Police Gazette, 1926, page 54, has been identified as that of offender. Christchurch. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, C. M. Wright (name probably fictitious), age about twentyseven, height 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, dark tan complexion, brown hair, slightly stooped ; dressed in a. dark suit and felt hat; slight impediment in speech. Accused obtained a set of black gig-harness, value £l2, from Mason, Struthers, and Co., merchants, 76 Lichfield Street, by falsely representing that he was a farmer at .Fairlie. * On the 27th ultimo he obtained a similar set of harness from the same firm.

Dunedin. On or about the 7th September last, on warrant for forgery, S. Robertson, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 94 in., painter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar above left eye, on back of each hand, and on one little finger; dressed in a* grey tweed suit and grey felt hat. Accused forged the name of Charles Harrex to a letter and thereby obtained goods, value £6 195., from the D.1.C., mercers and outfitters. Dunedin. 26th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the premises of Kan Wing Kai, fruiterer, 331 George Street, and stealing therefrom £7O in £1 and 10s. notes, and £BO in silver and copper, Wong Ah Chong, alias Sydney Wong, alias Low On, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., shop-assistant, native of China, medium build, dark sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, large nose, clean-shaved, pock-mark on cheek ; dressed in a blue-serge suit with white fine stripes, fawn felt hat, white striped shirt, and soft collar. He was employed by complainant for ten weeks, but left about three weeks prior to the offence. A man of the description given called on the 26th ultimo at the National Bank of New Zealand, North Dunedin, and handed in £39 Is. in silver, requesting to be given £2O in notes for it. Whilst the money was being counted he left the bank and disappeared. He was subsequently interviewed on the train at Timaru and had £sl 10s. in £1 and 10s. notes in his possession. He then gave the name Low On, and was allowed to proceed by train. q /L

Invercargill. —llth January last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for tyo months in default of paying £25, arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Thomas Harvey, alias Hardbattle, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., engineer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, mole under left eye, burn-scar on left wrist.
