Phelan, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., clerk and garage hand, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair ; usually dressed in a navy-blue serge suit and soft dark-grey felt hat or light-grey suit, bow-tie, and soft collar. Philip Henry Levy, Grocer, Jervois. Road, Herne Bay, posted a cheque for above amount to Thomas David Collins, 32 Quay Street. Accused, who in some way became possessed of the cheque, called on Mr. Levy next day and asked him to make the cheque open as he required change.
