Hamilton.— On the 17th or 18th ultimo the premises of VV. GIN AND CO., Ward Street, were broken into and about £6O in money stolen therefrom, comprised of eleven sovereigns, one half-sovereign, one £lO note, two £5 notes, £3 in postal notes, &c. Not identifiable. »

Gisborne. — C. CLARKE’S camera stolen : The suspect, John Gaunt, alias Langley, alias Wilson, alias Lang, alias Charles Smith, has been arrested for the offence by the Gisborne police. The stolen property has not been recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 40.)

Taradale. l3th or 14th November last, the property of NICHOLAS JAMES PHILLIPS, a one-and-a-half-year-old fawn Jersey heifer in calf; value, £5. * Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leonard Burke, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Featherston. On the 30th ultimo the dwelling of JOSIAH HENRY LANE TOWKRSEY, baker, Fitzherbert Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A cash-box, containing a cheque for £2 on the Bank of Australasia, Featherston, signed “ Stanley Benton,” and about £l7 in notes, silver, and coppers ; total value, £l9 10s. Cash-box only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to John Doyle, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a grey-tweed suit, grey-felt hat, and blue-cloth overcoat; frequents billiard-saloons; fond of horse-racing. Wellington. — the 27th December last the dwelling of GEORGE ELLWOOD, musician, 180 Willis Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A ladies’ gold expanding keyless Swiss wristlet watch, one link in wristlet broken and soldered; and a -plate I.C.A. reflex camera, Zeiss lens, small scratch on top of camera : total value, £35. Identifiable.

Wellington. — lst instant, from a bathroom in the Post Office Hotel, the property of MARTHA GUSTAFSON, a broad 18 ct. gold wedding-ring; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold halfhoop ring, set with five large diamonds in claw setting ; and a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with a cluster of about nine diamonds in claw setting : total value, £177. Wellington. On the 12th ultimo the dwelling of ALLAN HAYES, 22 Webb Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A 9 ct. gold Swiss wristlet watch, oblong shape, fifteen jewels, silver dial with engraved gold centre, dent in back of case and hinge broken ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Suspicion is attached to Sidney Stringer, age about twenty height 5 ft. 8 in., boiler maker and acetone-welder, native of England, medium build, pale complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a grey suit and light-grey-felt hat slovenly appearance.
