Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— On or about the 4th November last, from the Fitzroy Wharf, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), a dark muddy-coloured tarpaulin, about 12 ft. by 10 ft., seam in centre, seven brass eyelets, “ P.W. Dept.” branded in several places thereon in black ink ; and a greencanvas cover, about 18 ft. by. 12 ft. : total value, £4. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 18th and 21st ultimo, from 10 Arthur Street, Ponsonby, the property of JOHANA BROSNAHAN, 46 Anglesea Street, an 18ct. gold engage-ment-ring, set with three rubies and two diamonds in claw setting; an 18 ct. -bar gold brooch, set with rubies and diamonds, several stones missing; an 18 ct. gold heartshaped locket, set with three rubies in centre, heavy gold neckchain attached ; two Fuji-silk nightdresses with lace round neck and flowers on front; a silk camisole ; and a longhandled brown-backed clothes-brush : total value, £2B 9s. 6d. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. —Between the 16th and 18th ultimo the shop of LIZZIE AMANDA STEVENS, dressmaker, Shortt’s Buildings, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A Japonica marocain cream lace frock, a pale-blue-cashmere frock with white lace and diamante trimming; a fancy yellow crepe frock trimmed with beads, and a cinnamonmarocain frock trimmed with jade satin ; total value, £2Oll s. fid. Auckland.— 4th December last, the property of HERBERT JOHNSON, Whakapara, a small flat-shaped purse ; a £5 note ; five £1 notes ; a cheque for £7 ss. 7d. on the Bank of New Zealand, Whangarei, No. 65962, dated 20th October, 1925, and signed “ W. Birch ” and “ P. Ellis, Directors,” and “R. Arniel, Secretary ” ; and several bills for rates from the Bay of Islands County Council. Purse and cheque only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to George Bottles, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7f in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, copper complexion, black curly hair, dark-brown eyes, scars on right wrist and on neck. On the 11th or 12th ultimo the shop of HUGH WRIGHT (LIMITED), Queen Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A gentlemen’s double-breasted coat and vest, brown with faint stripe, size 5, “ Maitland make ” inside collar of coat; twenty pairs gentlemen’s heather-mixture-cashmere socks, size 101 ; and a green canvas-covered suit-case : total value, £lO 17s. 6d. Identification doubtful. A gentlemen’s khaki waterproof overcoat with Massey written on collar and sleeve was left behind by the offender. ,

Te Aroha. 2nd ultimo, from a tent in the Waitoa Sportsground, the property of RICHARD JOHN TAIT, 7 Morris Street, Palmerston North, a gentlemen’s gold keyless hunting Omega watch, “R. J. Tait, half, one, and two miles cycle races, 1923,” engraved on inside of back case ; and a rolledgold watch-chain, round gold medal attached with “ Presented by Cliff and Remington to R. J. Tait ” thereon : total value, £9. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —On the 27th or 28th ultimo the shop of VICTOR EDGAR, 62 Victoria Street, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A large marble eight-day clock ; a large doll; a pair of Lumex prism glasses ; three gentlemen’s eight-day gold-filled hunting keyless watches, “Hebdomas Patent eight days Swiss watch” on dial, balancewheel showing in dial; a gentlemen’s silver open-faced keyless watch ; a gentlemen’s gold-filled hunting keyless watch ; a Veglia alarm-clock; a gentlemen’s black-leather dressingcase, containing a black ebony hair-brush, clothes-brush, soap-box, comb, and tooth-brush holder; a white Alabaster bedroom clock ; a yellow oval Alabaster bedroom-clock: two dozen Bengal razors ; a white-and-blue E.P. cruet; five silver-plated cake-knives with white handles ; a brown-fibre suit-case ; a silver-plated four-piece afternoon tea-set ; a silver-plated tea-tray; a Majestic fountain pen ; a ladies’ open-face keyless silver watch with a blue circle round edge of dial; nine assorted ladies’ and gentlemen’s open-face keyless wristlet watches (gold, gold-filled, and mother-of-pearl) ; three ladies’ 9 ct. gold necklets ; and two gentlemen’s brass open-face keyless watches with pink circle in centre of dial: total value, £7B Us. 6d. C. Jones, W.G.C. 1921 ” and crossed guns on it; a Perpetual Forest Bond for £25; two £lO notes ; and a£s note : total value, £SB. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to El'll Brown, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., station hand, Maori, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; dressed in grey ridingbreeches, dark coat and vest, and soft-felt hat. M. Taylor; a square-link silver chain ; a silver medal with gold shield in centre, “G. M. Wellington. —2lst December last, the property of EDWARD ROSENBERG, Manners Street, an Indian Scout motor-bicycle, 1923 model, registration No. 21-971, engine No. 50.X.481 ; value, £SO. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to W. P. Stevens (name probably fictitious), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair. Accused was allowed to take the bicycle for a trial inn, but failed to return. He left with complainant an Indian motor-bicycle, engine No. 50.T.3110.
