Whang —-15th December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £lO 13s. fine and costs for supplying liquor to a prohibited person, Frank Nelson, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm hand, medium build, fresh complexion. On the 18th August, 1908, he was fined £lO for the above offence.

Auckland. — December last, for theft of an Australian returned soldier’s badge, No. 1481, “ A.1.F.” in centre, value 7s. 6d., the property of Walter James Gaudin, gardener, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height ft. 7 in., slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a -serge suit and brown hat. Whilst conversing together outside the Waverley Hotel the suspect removed the badge from complainant’s coat and disappeared. No warrant.

Wellington.—l7th December last, on warrant for theft of a dress-basket, containing skeins of wool, writing-pads, envelopes, tape, soap, pins, vaseline, shaving-soap, needles, thread, cotton, tooth-brushes, studs, tie-pins, socks, ladies’ hose, handkerchiefs, children’s singlets and pinafores, girls’ and ladies’ dresses and underwear, gentlemen’s shirts, &c., total value £7, not identifiable, the property of William George Thomas, draper, 34 King Street, Wellington, Thomas Archibald Hayes, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7J in., labourer and canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on forehead, dark moustache ; may be dressed in a grey shabby suit and blackvelour hat turned down. Accused, who was employed by complainant, was supplied with the goods to sell and account for the proceeds, but he has disappeared. Wellington.—27th ultimo, that he may be compelled to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Anetta Helen Haller is the mother, Frederick James Piper, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, clean-shaved, oval features. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department.

Dunedin. ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jane Hawthorne Ryan, and children, Thomas Ryan, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on back of right ear and on back of right wrist. Dunedin.' —27th November last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Anna Mary Smith, is the mother, William Richard Webster, age thirty, height 5 ft. 1\ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, blue eyes, scar on abdomen ; clasped hands, Bridget,” Bill,” and “No. 24837 on right forearm ; usually dressed in a dark suit, soft-felt hat, and tan shoes. Invercargill.—2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for six weeks in default of paying £SO ss. fine and costs for carrying on the business of a bookmaker, Arthur McKeever, alias Anderson, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., engine-driver, native of New Zealand, strong build, ruddy complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, scar on bridge of nose, under left ear, and on right side of chin ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-felt hat; slight impediment in speech.
