Auckland. —9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 12s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Elizabeth Mary Evans, domestic, 8 Liverpool Street, is the mother, Alfred William Ruff Astle, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., painter and paperhanger, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, two front teeth missing, “ Q.A.” on back of left hand ; heart, dagger, and “L ” on left forearm ; scar on back of left hand ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-felt hat fond of horse-racing. Auckland. 29th October last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £3 Gs. fine and costs for driving a motor-cycle in a dangerous manner, Victor Thomas Hunt Graham, age about twentyfour, height about 5 ft. 5 in., agent and salesman, native of New Zealand, strong build, pale complexion, brown hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-felt hat. /j PC '/T (r,s! Pukkkohe. —l6th October last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 12s. fine and costs for assault, Joseph Gray, alias Grey, age thirty-four, height 6 ft. 0 V in., miner and fisherman, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes. Ngaruawahia. 2oth October last, on warrant for false pretences. Charles Walsh, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 10in., labourer, native of Ireland, good build, dark complexion, brown hair going bald, brown eyes; dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt hat; said to have been wounded in one shoulder. Accused, who arranged to marry Mrs. Emma Newman on the 27th October last, obtained from her £6O by falsely representing himself to be unmarried and that he would utilize the money to buy a motor-car which they would own jointly, and use as a .taxi. Hamilton. — lßth ultimo, that he may be interviewed regarding a rug, value £2 10s., the property of Harry Birch, milker, Karamu, Pat Murphy, alias Bowater, alias Barry, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown long hair, blue eyes, scar on upper lip; dressed in a grey suit, grey cap, and tan boots; smart appearance. Accused borrowed a motor-car and rug from complainant, with whom he had been working, and abandoned the cat at Frankton Junction, but the rug has not been recovered. ft’ Hastings. 27th August last, on warrant for theft of a pair of gentlemen’s boots (recovered), value 19s. 6d., the property of New Zealand Clothing Factory, Heretaunga Street, A. Crawford (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and fencer, medium build, dark complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, small auburn moustache, full face ; dressed in a dark suit and gabardine overcoat; stooped ; dirty appearance ; fond of drink. Accused stole the boots from the shop-door and sold them to a second-hand dealer for 7s. fid.

Carterton. 9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of paying £lB arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Ethel May Forgeson, George Brock Aaron Forgeson, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 4J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, grey eyes, “ G ” on right forearm ; dressed in a dark-brown suit, dark-grey-felt hat, and tan boots which have been blackened ; a good billiard-player and frequents billiard-saloons. Wellington. —On or about the 12th August last, that he may be located and the Inspector of Police notified of his whereabouts, Linley Willis Mills, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, good build, fresh complexion, ginger hair; usually dressed in a navyblue or grey suit and soft-felt hat. He is suspected of having stolen at River Camp, Mangahao, Shannon, a letter containing two postal notes for 3s. each and two postal notes for 2s. fid. each (recovered), the latter two having been forwarded to Mr. McDonald, Wanganui, in payment for Monster Sports Art-union tickets. If located, the Inspector of Police, Wellington, is to be notified, who will forward the file. 'J

Wellington. —l6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £3 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, Sydney Harold Cummings, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair,*hazel eyes, scar under left eye and on base of right thumb and' forefinger. Murchison. —31st October last, that he may be notified that the Murchison police have in their possession £3 3s. balance of his bail-money, James Joseph O’Connor, alias Collins, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, broken nose, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a browntweed suit, grey cap, and brown lace-up boots. He was arrested on the 29th September last on charges of drunkenness and refusing to quit licensed premises. He'was released on bail of £5 and failed to appear at Court on 2Sth October, when he was fined £1 10s. and ordered to pay 7s. costs. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 534. __ I i P K *

Westport. 9th instant, on warrant for leaving New Zealand while moneys under a maintenance order are in arrear without the permission in writing of a Magistrate, Donald Peter McCaskill, alias Osborne, alias McGaskill, age twenty-nine, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; fond of drink. He stowed away on the s.s. “ Willaston,” which left Westport for San Francisco on the 10th ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1925, page 474, and Photographs, 1921, page 70.)

Greymouth. —7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for breach of his prohibition order, Jack Murphy, age forty height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, scar on chin and above right ankle ; slovenly appearance ; limps.

Christchurch. l7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, George Webster, age sixty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6 in., farmer, native of Scotland, fair complexion, white hair, blue eyes, has beard and moustache ; walks with a limp. Arrears to 6th October last, £4 ss.

SF Christchurch. —6th October last, on warrant of commitment to LLisbeerie Prison for thirty days in default of paying £l9 16s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, Yale Dexter, alias Leonard Lyle Mackay, alias Van Brunt, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., motor engineer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, two lions, “N.Z. 27,” badge, “L.L.M.” and “52236” on left forearm. September last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Gladys Gwendoline Tindall, 78 Francis Street, Frederick Tindall, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes, slight scar on neck ; dressed in a navy-blue-serge suit and felt hat. Arrears to 28th July last, £ls 10s.

Christchurch.— 27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Alice May Mahoney, 461 Ferry Road, William Henry Mahoney, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, darkbrown hair and eyes, scar on forehead and above left eyebrow, artificial teeth, one gold tooth in upper set on left side ; dressed in a blue suit, light-felt hat, and grey overcoat.
