Huntly. 2lst ultimo, for indecent assault, Man (name unknown), age about forty, medium height and build. Accused while on a vacant section committed the offence on Mary Melling, age twenty-three, who is feeble-minded. No warrant.
Gisborne. —18th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of paying £54 3s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Margaret Pinching, and two children, William Edward Pinching, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., farmer and labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, mole on left cheek, scar under right ear. //r
Gisborne. instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Emily Rebecca Hyde, and children, Charles Henry Hyde, age -five, height 5 ft. 8| in., contractor and labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, fair moustache, front teeth missing ; fond of drink ; dirty appearance. Taumarunui. 3rd ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month and forty-eight hours in default of paying £9 Os. Bd. and 16s. lid. fines and costs for failing to pay his railway fare and obstructing a railway guard, Harry Taylor, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes, scar on left forearm ; impediment in speech ; shabby appearance.
Wanganui. —l7th instant, for failing to comply with the terms of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Herbert William Stephen Pearson, alias Stevens, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., painter and hotel porter, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, small nose and mouth. Dannevirke.l6th instant, on warrant for false pretences, Roy William Thompson (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 4 in., medium build, dark complexion. Accused obtained from H. A. Morison, draper, High Street, goods to the value of £3 15s. by means of a valueless cheque for £l2 on the Bank of New Zealand, Pahiatua. Wellington.—2lst instant, for escaping from Porirua Wellington. —2lst instant, for escaping from Porirua Mental Hospital, Edward Sellar, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., mechanic, strong build, sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved, stooped shoulders ; dressed in a tweed suit (odd coat and trousers), check cap, and blue check shirt with “M. 3” on it; slouching gait; has a habit of looking down when addressed. He is considered dangerous, and his arrest is urgently / -
i) Wellington. —24th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license, Eugene Thomas McCormack, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7| in., labourer, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, pug-nose, scar on left cheek and on right shoulder. His arrest and return to nearest prison to place of arrest is desired. His term of probation expires on the 14th June next, after which no action is to be taken against him. Accused, who V'aTrJjftjQdowd by Marie Sprot and Co., land agents, stole four blank cheques 'from their office and forged the name Frederick William Cochrane to one for £ll, and uttered it to Dunstan and Dyer, Colombo Street, in part-payment for clothing, receiving £9 change. /There are other charges pending. ojl.
